Lesson 2:  Online Encyclopedia: PebbleGo
Explain that we will be using an online encyclopedia.  An encyclopedia is a type of nonfiction resource gives us information on many subjects, like a nonfiction book.  We will be doing a small research project on wild turkeys.  Teacher and/or class will read through the "Wild Turkeys" article on PebbleGo.  Show how PebbleGo also highlights key words, has subtitles, and photos, like nonfiction books.  Meanwhile, students will use PebbleGo to complete the Turkey research form. If time permits, show students read aloud feature, how to find the definition of new vocabulary, and (if needed) Spanish feature.  Depending on the ability of the students, you may need two days to do this activity.
