Lesson 1: Hour of Code
Review coding by showing the 'Computer Programming' video form BrainPop. As we do every year, we celebrate Hour of Code in December and give students a chance to practice their coding skills. Students can go to the 'Dance Party' coding game. Model on the board how to complete the puzzle, then give students time to work. You could link the game in Google Classroom for ease of access or show how to get their from the Hour of Code website. There is now an AI verison of Dance Party as well. The slideshow features the AI version. The AI piece to Dance Party is they get to AI generate the backgrounds of their projects.
Lesson 2: Hour of Code - continued
Students can go to Space Invader coding game. Model on board how to complete the first few levels then give students time to work. You could link the game in Google Classroom for ease of access or show how to get their from the Hour of Code website.
Lesson 3: Seasonal Coding
Have students complete a Gingerbread Coding activity. This can be printed out for an 'unplugged' coding game, or you could share the linked Google slides activity in Google Classroom, making a copy for each student. Students could create multiple paths then share with a friend to test out their coding skills. *Three blank maps and coding pages are including in slides, if students want more they should duplicate slides*
