Lesson 1: Compare Non-Fiction Text- Animals
Read or open the Sharks Lightbox Book. Then read/show another non-fiction book about sharks. As you are reading, ask questions out loud about sharks using who, what, where, how. Compare with students what is the same and what is different in the text. Using the Venn diagram template on the Promethean Board is always a great tool.
Activity - Cut apart the shark puzzle and glue to a piece of construction paper.
Lesson 2: Research on Pebble Go - Question
Go to animals on Pebble Go and have students think of a question they want to know more about. Tell them the question needs to be about an animal. Model this for them! For example, what are platypus? Have students find their animal and read/listen to the article on Pebble Go. Fill out the note sheet and save for the next class if you plan to use Lesson 3 below.
Lesson 3: Create Digital Project- Animal Research
Using Hello Crayon from our past iPad lesson. Draw a picture of what animal you learned about. Remind students of how to access the app and our ipad rules. Students may need to revisit their animal for drawing inspiration.
Lesson 4: Rainbow Research
Read/listen to the story How Crayons Saved the Rainbow by Monica Sweeney. Have students create a rainbow and remember their ROY G. BIV rule- the colors in the spectrum always stay the same! You can prepare strips of paper ahead of time or use the link below to print strips to color. This can be collected and used as a nice spring bulletin board if you like.
