Lesson 1: Review Library Expectations
Use this class period to review expectations in the library. Read The Not So Quiet Library by Zachariah Ohara. If time, have students complete the Book Review page.
Lesson 2: Snowman Story
Read All You Need for a Snowman by Alice Schertle, Snowballs by Lois Ehlert or your favorite snowman story. Discuss all the various ways you can decorate a snowman and what you need.
Activity Options:
Students can then decorate their own snowman using this template, having students paste the pieces onto blue construction paper.
Use this snowman template and add pompoms, feathers, pipe cleaners, buttons, etc. to decorate a snowman.
Students can follow along with how to draw a snowman using the linked video.
Lesson 3: Introduction to Pebble Go
Introduce students to Pebble Go. Demonstrate how to use the buttons across the top of the page to move throughout the site and articles. Remind students about how to properly use the iPad. Give students time to explore the site on their own, choosing topics they are interested in.
*You can decide if you would rather students use an iPad or a Chromebook for this lesson.
Lesson 4: Pebble Go:
Now that students have explored PebbleGo on their own, let them know this time they are going to record the name of the topic they learned about. Model for students where they can find this information on the panel. Have students get back into PebbleGo and copy the article name on this sheet. (change link) Students can also draw a picture to go along with their topic.
