Lesson 1-3: Intro to Coding with Codespark
Students will be learning to code this month using Codespark. The first lesson is a group lesson that introduces coding and you will model the game Donut Detective. Week 2-3 are lessons that students code on their own. Lessons are laid out in the slides provided. Students will use ipads to access Codespark. LMT will need to create an account in Codespark and add students. Directions are in the slides.
Lesson 4: Text with Fiction and Nonfiction Seasonal Stories
Read A Wish to Be a Christmas Tree by Colleen Monroe (this is on Epic as well). Review fiction and non-fiction with students. Show them the article in Pebble Go on conifers. Have them brainstorm what they learned. Then show the how to draw a Christmas tree video. Have them draw their tree and make a card. They can take the card home. (If students do not celebrate Christmas it can be a winter card.)
Extension Activites (if time allows):
Read Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree by Robert Barry or other stories about pine trees.
