The Golden Archer Award

Back in 1973, two library friends named Mrs. Archer and Mrs. Teresinski noticed that adults were usually the ones picking which children's books should win awards. They believed that kids are the real experts on what makes a story great, so they created the Golden Archer Award—a special book award chosen entirely by children in Wisconsin! To win, a book had to feature unforgettable characters, an exciting plot, and a story so well-told that it kept "singing" in your mind long after you finished reading. Over the years, thousands of students have voted for their favorite stories, giving authors a wonderful trophy chosen straight from the hearts of their biggest fans.
