In order to insure an orderly and fair procedure for student groups of our school to sponsor sales of various items, the following rules will be observed at all times:
- Initial request - When an authorized student club or activity wishes to sponsor a sale or other activity within the school or in the name of the school, a written request must be submitted to the school administration. Only authorized clubs and activities with approved rules and a student activity account on record will be considered.
- The administration will consider the appropriate times of the activity to ensure an even distribution of time for all. Generally, a limitation of days on the activity will be made.
- Food and Drink Sales – All food and drink sales must follow the guidelines of the memo below. If a food/drink sale is approved, the following rules apply at all times:
- The sponsoring teacher will supervise the sale in pre-approved locations authorized by the administration.
- Food or drinks will be sold only during lunch time or before school in the morning when the sponsor can be present to supervise the sale.
- The area where food is sold will be kept clean at all times. Provision for disposal of waste is the responsibility of the sponsoring group.
- No students are to miss class time before or after the sale. Preparation for the sale must be done before or after school or at lunch time.
- No food sales will be conducted in the hallways unless specific permission is given by the administration. This normally will not be given.
- Advertising for the sale will be via the daily bulletin and/or the activity's bulletin board. No signs will be placed on any walls, windows, etc., in the hallways.
- Sales of Other Items - The same rules apply for sales of items other than food. However, sales may take place before or after school in addition to lunch time, provided they do not interfere with attendance of students.
- All student activities must be considered as extra-curricular and must not interfere with instructional time or the rules of the school.
- Sponsors of all student activities will insure that all students involved are aware of their responsibilities and that the rules of the school are observed.
- Money generated by activity fund raising must be deposited in the Student Activity Fund. A clear audit trail must be maintained.
- For more information see your school administrator.
