Grading Scale

A DoDEA-wide numerical grading scale for use in determining letter grades for students in grades 4 - 12 has been established:

A = 100 – 90

B = 89 – 80

C = 79 – 70

D= 69-60

F= 59 or below

The use of plus (+) or minus (-) signs with grade marks is authorized for use on report cards and permanent records cards. The “+” or “-” does not have any value in computing a student grade point average. In addition, teachers as the situation warrants approve the following grades for use:

• E = Passes course on the basis of effort; student ability is a basic condition In-processing an "E" grade.
• I = Temporary grade to allow students to make-up work due to excused absence incomplete will not be given at the end of the second semester.
• P = Passing grade with full credit but without quality (GPA) points earned administrative approval is required prior to assessing a "P" grade.
• WP = Student withdraws from a course between the period beginning with week two and prior to week six of the semester; the grade of withdrawn passing (WP) may be given.
• WF = Student withdraws after week six of the semester; the notation of withdrawn failing (WF) is given.

To graduate from a DoDEA High School, students must have a cumulative Grade Point Average of 2.0.

Students in Kindergarten to third grade will be assigned the following:

• CD: Consistently Displayed
• P: Development/Progressing
• N: Not Yet Evident
