Unused Sick Leave, CSRS only
If you retire on an immediate annuity, the amount of unused sick leave you have at retirement will be added to your years and months of service for annuity computation purposes. Unused sick leave CANNOT be used to determine length of service for eligibility to retire or to compute the high-3 average salary. In addition, sick leave is not creditable if you apply for a deferred annuity.
The 2087 Hour Work Year Chart is used to convert hours of unused sick leave into years/months/days of service. The sick leave conversion chart does not list every number between 0 and 2087. If the number of hours of sick leave you have does not correspond to a number on the chart, use the next highest number. For example, if you have 1000 of unused sick leave, the number "1,000" does not appear on the chart; however, the numbers "997" and "1003" appear. In that instance, use 1003 for the conversion.
