DRAFT - UNDER REVIEW - DRAFT
In the event of an accident/injury, report to the Nurse's Office and contact your supervisor. If an accident or injury occurs after duty, contact the Nurse’s Office upon return to work.
Report all accidents to your supervisor.
Every injury sustained while in the performance of duty, no matter how slight, should be reported so that the employee may have the protection of the Federal Employees’ Compensation Act and ensure proper OSHA reporting requirements. The term injury includes any illness or disease caused by the employment or exasperated by employment. Immediate medical care can be obtained from the nurse and then report the injury. You must file written notice of the injury in Accident/Incident Report System (AIRS) and at https://www.ecomp.dol.gov.
Fatalities must be reported within 8 hours and some severe injuries must be reported within 24 hours.
Contact your school nurse for specific time reporting requirements for your situation as soon as possible.
The report can be submitted by a third party if the injured employee cannot. Delay may result in denial of benefits.
