- The classroom teacher is the first level of responsibility and is responsible for his/her classroom.
- Students are not allowed to leave class without a hall pass.
- Students are not to be left unattended in the classroom. If there is an emergency, phone the office via telephone, intercom or send a student to the office for assistance.
- Maintain a sign-out/sign-in log, either written or electronic version.
- Classroom teachers should be ready to receive students at the beginning of the passing time.
- Class rules, grading policies, and evacuation routes must be posted in the classroom.
- Content standards must be posted and explained to students.
- Teachers must not detain or otherwise prevent students from arriving to their next class on time.
- Lesson plans are not required to be turned into the main office. However, it is assumed that provisions for daily classroom lessons are prepared. Lesson plans will be checked during classroom observations and post-observation conferences. Plans are in a substitute notebook located in classroom, (in clear view or per school guidance). Additionally, all teachers are required to have at least three days of emergency sub plans available.
- Students must not be allowed to disrupt the education process for others. Students are not to be left outside the classroom door.
