Infancy

Breastfeeding:

During the first 4-6 months of life, babies are going through rapid growth and development, and breast milk (or formula milk) contains all the nutrients needed for this period.  What are the benefits of breastfeeding?

Weaning:

Solid foods can be introduced at 6 months of age - it is important that during weaning, the diet contains enough iron.

Between 6 and 12 months, an infant also requires protein and Vitamin B

It is important to note that infants have a small stomach, therefore they cannot eat large meals - instead, they should be given smaller meals throughout the day.

In between these smaller meals, infants needs to have drinks and snacks, for energy and nutrients. For example, whole milk provides infants with more energy.
