Bangkok 2015

March 2015, Bangkok

Stamper was all prepared for the Indian Ocean and ready to go by mid March. This gave us the option to make a city tour to Bangkok. The low cost and the opportunity for us, global nomads, was irresistible.

We avoided most of the busy tourist places and tried to use local transport, bringing us to unexpected places and meetings.

Apart from sightseeing we also used the opportunity to have made shirts and trousers for Julie, buy souvenirs outside the 'made in China' class.

At the Grand Palace we wondered why so many people we saw seemed to not want to be doing what they were doing at that moment. Most were very busy with themselves, making selfies and not even seeing the marvellous entourage. Less then 10% really was looking at the architecture around them or even the people.

The floating market in Taling Chan. We arrived there with a shared taxi and returned by bus.

The Erawan temple, in the south suburbs of Bangkok, is a humongous three headed elephant with a Buddhist shrine in its belly and sockle. The artwork is, like with Gaudi, built up of standard porcelain cups and spoons.

Papaya is an unconspicuous wharehouse that opens up to a surprise treasure house of old stuff.

That is it folks. Next step is Puteri harbour to check out for Cocos Keeling, fill up with the last stuff and around April 1st we leave!
