After getting sufficiently far in her training, Adele decides it is time to help Jimmy, the ghost who lives on her street, to move on. Slipping out after dark, she finds Jimmy playing beside a tree in his front yard. She questions the spectral child, who doesn't realize he is dead, attempting to discern his anchors. She determines his house is one anchor but is unable to find the other. Along the way she realizes the ghost is out of touch with reality, unaware that it is a cold winter night.
Working off a hunch she visits the house again in the morning as part of her morning jog and confirms that Mr. Miller, the boy's father and a car salesman, is the other anchor. Armed with this knowledge but at a loss of how to proceed, she turns to her teacher, Goes, for advice. The strange mystic tells her to convince the ghost of its death, using Death magic to heighten its awareness and to gather evidence of its death to convince it.
The next couple days Adele spends working at the Dr. Summer's animal clinic along with her coworker Evelyn. After work she visits the library printing out newspaper clippings about the accident that claimed Jimmy's life. She also stops at a toy store to buy a toy car that resembles the one that killed Jimmy.
Late one night she visits Jimmy again. She presents the toy car to Jimmy (now converted into a twilight reflection) but he is hesitant to accept it. Using magic she heightens his awareness and reveals the truth to him gently. Jimmy realizes he is dead. Adele says she wants to help him move on and asks what Jimmy feels he has left to do. Tearfully, he says he wants to see his father again and rushes back into his house. Unfortunately, despite Jimmy's poltergeist activities he is unable to make his father see him. Adele promises to help and gives him some paper and a pen he can touch to write his father a note.
The next morning as Mr. Miller as left for the day, he stumbled across the note at the door. As Adele watched Jimmy materialized on the front lawn in front of his father. He waved goodbye and then vanished forever.
