The Disciples of Nehjarra were once dismissed as a crazy group of “New Age” cultists, written off as relatively harmless, and left to their own devices. The strange series of events leading to their present state, however, has started causing the Consiliar mages of Gary to raise eyebrows. The Disciples of Nehjarra belong to no order, and are conspicuously absent from any political undertakings, so information about them is hard to come by.
What is known is that their cult started in 1997 as an evangelical Christian revival group on the outskirts of the city, near Hammond, Indiana. A husband-and-wife team arrived in the region near Gary with the horns of faith blaring, and they drew a medium-sized following of believers in their “old school” faith healing and speaking in tongues.
About 2 years after they started, “preaching and teaching,” the husband claimed to have been visited by a spirit, called Nehjarra, professing to be “the comfort of God." The group began to teach their followers about the guiding power of crystals and the vibratory levels of reality, leading to a profound and immediate change in their membership. Most of the mainstream Christians were disenchanted by what they heard, although some were swayed to a new way of thinking. The group is now growing with new membership and their disciples can often be seen with their shaved heads and colorful robes, even on the streets of Chicago.
One of their members that stayed on was Anna, who was lost after a car accident interrupted her Awakening. During her time there she was compelled by some unknown power to murder a fellow cult member, thus weakening her mind so that a demonic entity could inhabit it.
Since then the cult became darker. Another cultist was strangled by Vayu while he was channeling Nehjarra. A third died in a freak accident. Vayu, formerly Samuel Miller, took to impregnating the female members of the cult while possessed by Nehjarra. Three children were born, children with tattered souls that let the eerie nothingness of the Abyss pour out. Paradox became common in the area and bad luck plaguds all within a mile of the compound. Shadow was empty around the compound as is Twilight.
Now the cult is gone. Neighbors claim they saw a black van pass through in the night as well as the sound of gunfire. Police investigation has turned up signs of violence (such as a damaged wall and bullet holes) but no signs of the cult members. The Iron Hand has covered their tracks well.
