Background: Alex is a fighter. Always in brawls since grade school, he began his training with his
father, a high school linebacker. Alex never did well at sports, especially team sports, but he knew how
to dish out pain. He did a stint in the army and then tried to learn a trade and settle down. He married
and tried his hand as a mechanic. But it didn't work out.
After his divorce, he returned to what he was good at: fighting. He had practiced a half a dozen
different martial arts over the years, though he always favored good old fashioned boxing. He decided
to join the mixed martial arts circuit. He did pretty well, earning some notoriety for his fast powerful
hits. But he wasn't good enough for the big leagues. Stuck on the local circuits, he ran afoul of
organized crime and some poorly made bets.
Until recently he was working part time as a leg breaker for the local criminal gangs of
Chicago. The recent spat of violence in the city had hit them hard as too. A new syndicate had move
in, forcing out the old gangs or bringing them under their control. Things might have gone bad if it
hadn't been for his Awakening.
Unknown to him, he was being observed by the Adamantine Arrow. They decided to force his
Awakening. They set up a situation where he had to chose between the mob and his faith. A local
Catholic priest was set in opposition to the local gangs and he had to shut him up or the gang would kill
him. Things escalated and he turned on his employers. Later he learned that the priest was never in
danger, protected by magic of Red Knight a lieutenant of Valkyrie, the head of the Adamantine Arrow.
Valkyrie convinced him to join her organization and to aid in protecting the city. Alex trying to
figure out a shadow name, decided to go with Rocky, after the Italian Stallion was swiftly shot down.
