Adele

Acolyte and Famulus of the Silver Ladder, Archmaster of the Arcana of Death, Member of the Ebon Cross

Background: A native of Chicago, Adele Awakened towards the end of her senior year of high school. She possesses an uncommonly strong connection to the Supernal Realm of Stygia in one so recently Awakened as well as a high aptitude in the Arcanum of Death and a strange interest in Spirit (for a Moros). She was assigned to the group for this reason, and she is eager to help the city and the ghosts and spirits lost within.

She also had a familiar, a rat named Merlin, given to her secretly by Midas, Dominus of the seers of the Throne in Chicago and secretly her father. Her father having lost a war with the Concilium has fled. To protect him, Adele released her familiar Merlin.

She is very interested in helping people, including the dead as evidence by her efforts to aid Jimmy, the ghost of childhood friend, move on.

In the spring of 2003, her life was shaken up again, with the death of her high school friend Hope. Shortly after a woman called Anna tried to kill her. She claimed Adele would be the cause of the destruction of the city. Hope continues to haunt her as a ghost, slowly degrading as she loses herself. And Anna returned, leaving her journal at Adele's dorm at the university. Eventually Adele's investigation revealed that Anna may be have been interrupted in her Awakening and then manipulated by supernatural forces onto the track she is on. She hopes to save the deranged woman and has arranged events so she is getting the help she needs.

Her dreams were also infiltrated by the spirit of a dead mage called Rota who enticed her into joining his legacy and knowledge. She recovered a grimoire he made as well as a repugnant ghost known as the Epicurean Grimoire. She has lumped him in with her dislike of vampires. She rescued Rota's ghost and made herself his new anchor. Finally she completed his quest by joining his ghost and the spirit formed of his legacy to create a Geist-Mage, the first and only its kind. Rota then ascended, leaving an artifact, the Shroud of the Reaper.

Recently her mother, the mysterious White Lady, resurfaced. As opposed her strained relationship with her father, she and her mother are much closer.

For a time she and Miguel were dating but that relationship did not last.

Then symbols appeared in her mundane life. Messages from a being called the Neverborn spoke of a gateway. For a Sleeper this would signal an Awakening. But for a Mage this was the rise to the Imperial Mysteries. Adele became an Archmage.

Description: Adele stands 5’7”, comfortable on her feet, assured in her motions. Her waist length, mahogany hair is often held back in a single corded braid down her back, typically twisted with a colored ribbon to match her simple but tailored outfits. She looks to be about 19 or 20 years old, but her air of confidence may distort a true judgment of her age. She wears a delicate lead cross on a pendant around her neck and readily admits to attending Catholic services regularly. She is likely to greet most anything with a wide smile and a twinkle in her dark eyes.
