Second Degree Disciple of the Arcana of Prime and Space, Neokoros and Acquisitor of the Mysterium, Tellurian
Background: Plotimus was a normal kid. His parents worked at the local factory until the plants shutdown. Though he tried hard he was never the the athletic or the academic in school. He got by in an average life. His one passion was architecture. He loved to sketch skylines and visit interesting buildings. Ultimately his poor grades and general poverty prevented him from attending college and his dreams of being an architect were crushed. Instead he started work in construction, building the structures he wished he could design.
All that changed when he Awakened while vacationing in Chicago. As the elevated train rattled around the Loop, he suddenly could see a pattern within the steel and concrete of the city. Bright colorful lines pulsed along the streets and rails, across parks and along rivers. Strange angelic creatures moved along these lines at frightening speed.
When he returned home, he began to search everywhere for information on what he had seen. Eventually the local Consilium discovered him searching the local bookstores for grimoires and magical treatise on geomancy. The Gary Consilium was tiny, barely nine members, so after a short deliberation he was inducted into the Mysterium. He was tutored by the aged Heirophant Theon and his daughter Hypatia. They drilled into him the studies that eluded him in his dilapidated high school. Gradually he learned and became the local expert on geomantic matters. Upon completing his training Theon even gave him a gift of a enchanted watch.
But with his new knowledge he found disturbing signs. The ley lines that flowed through Gary were strained, bent at unnatural angles with no correspondence to the structure of the land. Seeking more information he traveled to Chicago and approached the Exile Cicero. Cicero was a rebel mage, a former member of the Free Council, who had betrayed his own cabal the Ascendant Singularity during the Mage War of the early 80s. Though he should have banished he was allowed to stay in the city due to secrets he knew about Chicago's geomantic design. Though Plotimus never learned what that secret was, he did learn much under the older mage.
Cicero taught him how to recognize signs of artificial alteration of ley lines and how to do so himself. He also inducted him into a legacy known as the Tellurians who make it their mission to map the ley lines and learn their secrets. To Cicero the pattern of a city was a living thing, ever evolving. Plotimus took this to heart and applied his studies to Gary.
He quickly realized that the Silver Ladder under Heirarch Apollo had altered the flow so that certain areas of the city were free of the darker resonances from Chicago. As he has continued to watch, he has found that something has further altered the pattern so what was once reduced the flow out of the city from a trickle to completely stopped up. The burning of a few buildings along with the Apollo's alterations has led to a potential catastrophe. Then he had a chance encounter with a werewolf who said something about the “dark currents growing in the city.” He thinks it might have known something about what is happening but according to the new Heirarch the beasts were all killed.
When he went to investigate he found that not to be entirely the case. Working with the Pack of the Red Death and a werecat named Miguel, he was able to resolve the overflow of resonance and defeat the spirit of vandalism behind it.
Description: Plotimus dresses in the flannel and jeans of a manual worker. He keeps his head shaved making him look older than his years and he keeps a short black beard to match his equally dark skin. His few oddments of dress are a leather sack containing his geomancy equipment and books and an antiquated watch that keeps perfect time, a relic from his training under Heirophant Theon.
When Plotimus's nimbus flairs the air about him glows with tiny threads of power, like capillaries of the dragon lines. With intense magic these threads take on colors and throb like a living organism.
