Background: Simon was grew up in Chicago, dreaming of being an architect. He won his apprenticeship at Holabird & Root with his sketches alone. He and Burgess were apprentices together there and found the Chicago Workings together. But rivalry split them up and they started their own separate firms, building grids of arcane power across the city. But then Burgess died and Simon got sick. He moved away for several years after that.
In 2002 he moved back to the city, making friends with his neighbor Colt. However due to Burgess's influence his apartment was set on fire and he died, just before he could tell the mages about his old friend. The cabal was able to install him into his occult grid and he became something between a ghost and a spirit, spreading the resonance of charity through his small section of the city.
Now he works within the city, communing with it and helping it when need be. With the changes wrought by the ghost mage Rota's ceremony, he became something greater and stranger than a ghost. But then reality was rewritten and the ceremony never happened. His powers diminished to mortal levels he dispersed into his grid.
Description: Simon Ellsworth was a withered man in a bow tie. He was all but bald and dotted with liver spots from his fingers to his face. His hands shook. Most days he wore argyle V-neck sweaters or smoky cardigans and shiny loafers. His wardrobe and his vocabulary made him seem as though he never escaped the gravity of the 1950s.
