Background: Bishop was born the son of a preacher, brought up on the word of God. His father was stern but not extremely harsh and instilled in him a love and fear of God. As kid he was drawn to violence, ending up ion schoolyard brawls again and again. Usually it was because he picked a fight with a bully, trying to defend someone else. As he grew up he ended more of his fights with words and become an arbitrator of disputes among the children.
When he grew up he went to law school and studied hard to deal with mortal law. His first few years of practice were tough but rewarding. He made new friends and helped many people, making the right people were defended.
Then the first change came and turned his life upside down. He was working on a tough criminal defense case for a client he had worked with before. Then a woman tied to one of his earlier cases confronted him with evidence that in an earlier case his client had been guilty. Something snapped inside him and he blacked out. The woman ended up in the hospital and later the asylum. The client died violently that night in Bishop's office. The scandal shut down his practice and in the chaos he left for nearby Chicago for a new place and a new life.
In Chicago, he was found and trained by other werewolves. He found their practices idolatrous but managed with time to create twisted brand of werewolf beliefs and Christian dogma. He could accept the need for violence against spirits (or demons to his mind) and need to police the boundary against worlds. Territory and the proscriptions against killing unnecessarily. His difficulties lie with what is allowed.
In Chicago's Shadow, he found a diseased and decaying realm. Everything seemed perverted and contrary to the natural order. After a year of policing its borders, he became convince nothing could save it. This a symbol of man's sin and it was waiting for God's cleansing wrath. He began to espouse the view that perhaps the Forsaken would be better off carving out a safe realm for themselves rather than endlessly fighting the darkness. His pack began to shun him, which worked to his benefit when they decided to rout some Rat Hosts, only to find a horde of squealing death awaiting them.
He ended up in Eric's pack for lack of anywhere else to go. He beginning to come out of his fugue recognizing he has to do something himself to solve the greater problems that plague Chicago. He spends his days in prayer, hoping for God's salvation to save himself and the city.
