Quote: “I didn’t have nothin’ to do with it.”
Background: Lazarus Toomes was always more ambitious than the other kids. He just wasn’t imaginative enough to find a way out of Switchtrack Alley. Instead, he joined what seemed to be the best of the gangs: the Switchblade Disciples.
His mentor in the gang framed him for a crime he didn’t commit and Lazarus spent 10 years in jail. When he got out, remade as Lay-Z, a wannabe rapper, he dedicated himself to taking over the Switchblade Disciples.
A recent accident has left him crippled and afraid of the ghosts of those he killed.
Through the Ebon Cross's influence, Lay-Z was convinced to confess. He has given up his life of crime and may even help motivate others to avoid a life of crime.
Description: Lay-Z is a handsome, light-skinned African-American who keeps his head and face shaved smooth. His arms bear prison tattoos that mark him as one of the Switchblade Disciples. He wears a professionally made one on his right shoulder. It depicts two switchblades in the form of a cross. He is 30 years old.
Back when he could walk, Lay-Z stood over six feet tall, but he slouched so much it was hard to tell. Now, as then, his clothes are always in the latest hip-hop style and he drives a new Lexus SUV with gold trim. The windows are tinted to almost black. As it passes through the streets, its subwoofer rattles nearby windows.
Lay-Z wears black sunglasses with shiny black lenses at all times. He sneers when he talks.
