Background: Master Hendrick has been in the business of teaching Kendo and the related skill of Iaido, for about a decade, since he started his own school in the early 90's, upon reaching 5^th dan, although just recently he has reached 6^th dan. A Chicago resident for most of his adult life, he was taught by one of the few Americans to have reached 7th dan. He is also the proud father of two girls, aged twelve and seven, both of whom also practice at his dojo, which he runs with his Japanese wife, Umiko.
