Jesus does not save us from hell. He saves us from sin

21. “And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins.” Matthew 1:21

34. Jesus answered them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, whoever commits sin is a slave of sin.35. “And a slave does not abide in the house forever, but a son abides forever.36. “Therefore if the Son makes you free, you shall be free indeed. John 8:34-36

Forgiveness is not a big deal

The word forgive only appears 22 times in the New Testament.

The church in the west often has a big focus on forgiveness of sin, and the devil is fine with that. If you big requirement is forgiveness you are totally misunderstanding the gospel and what the Father sent Jesus to do.

Jesus does not save us from consequences of sin, but from being slaves to sin. That means form doing sin.

Whoever has been born of God does not sin

1. Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.2. Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is.3. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

4. Whoever commits sin also commits lawlessness, and sin is lawlessness.5. And you know that He was manifested to take away our sins, and in Him there is no sin.6. Whoever abides in Him does not sin. Whoever sins has neither seen Him nor known Him.7. Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous.8. He who sins is of the devil, for the devil has sinned from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.9. Whoever has been born of God does not sin, for His seed remains in him; and he cannot sin, because he has been born of God.

10. In this the children of God and the children of the devil are manifest: Whoever does not practice righteousness is not of God, nor is he who does not love his brother.

It does take time so don’t panic – too much

7. But if we walk in the light as He is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ His Son cleanses us from all sin.8. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.9. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1 John 1:7-9

There must be real progress forward

12. For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you need someone to teach you again the first principles of the oracles of God; and you have come to need milk and not solid food.13. For everyone who partakes only of milk is unskilled in the word of righteousness, for he is a babe.14. But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

1. Therefore, leaving the discussion of the elementary principles of Christ, let us go on to perfection, not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works and of faith toward God,2. of the doctrine of baptisms, of laying on of hands, of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.3. And this we will do if God permits.4. For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers of the Holy Spirit,5. and have tasted the good word of God and the powers of the age to come,6. if they fall away, to renew them again to repentance, since they crucify again for themselves the Son of God, and put Him to an open shame.7. For the earth which drinks in the rain that often comes upon it, and bears herbs useful for those by whom it is cultivated, receives blessing from God;8. but if it bears thorns and briars, it is rejected and near to being cursed, whose end is to be burned.
