The common idea that many things are "Old Testament" and therefore can be used for the kiddies Bible or discarded, however you choose, is a mistake.
A word search in the Bible on "Old Testament " as well as "New Testament" will yield "zero hits".
The phrases "Old Testament " and "New Testament" are man-made and are like page numbers in the Bible.
We added it for easy reference and in this case it has caused catastrophic theological assumptions.
What you will find in the biblical text is five covenants. Five Covenants
They are named after the people God made them with, in order below:
Noah,
Abraham,
David,
Moses,
Jesus.
Jesus fulfilled the Mosaic Covenant and it is now "annulled". It is like a mortgage bond that if fully payed up. Cancelled stamped over it.
18 For on the one hand there is an annulling of the former commandment because of its weakness and unprofitableness,
19 for the law made nothing perfect; on the other hand, there is the bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.
Hebrews 7:15-19
BUT
The other 4 covenants still stand, each on its own promises and terms. Please see the link above for the detail.
The Understanding of the Five Covenants is a much more accurate description of the Bible that the phrases "Old Testament " and "New Testament"
An yet when Jesus comes he talks about another grouping: "The Law and the Prophets "
17 “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.
Matthew 5:17
Do you know what that means?
Isaiah, Ezekiel, Daniel and Zechariah are still on Jesus' TODO list.
Please don't say "Old Testament" "Old Testament" before you know that Ezekiel and Revelation overlap in a huge way. many Christian's don't understand Jesus because they never read Ezekiel
How can you say I love Jesus when you treat scripture like this?
Did you not know that He is the Word?
I have bad news for you, you don't KNOW Jesus, not the one the Bible that is.
The common garden variety can be easily obtained, on google or the local church.
