Not knowing the scriptures and not being able to interpret scriptures in context is one of the biggest problems in the church today.
Not having and not understanding the Spirit is certainly even a bigger problem, but make no mistake, we must KNOW the scriptures.
63. “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life. Jn 6:63
15. Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. 2 Ti 2:15
Below are famous verses that Christians often quote with great joy being convinced that the God of the New Testament only wants to make people happy and that there is no context for the upside promises. By reading the 5 verses before and after the lovely promises the context is often really scary.
Do you realize that by practicing HAVOC theology we are simply creating a God of our own fear and lust and actually not growing in adult understanding of the God of the Bible dealing and ways with men?
When bad things happen and persecution or disaster comes, Christians are often confused and think God has forsaken them because the don't KNOW the Jesus of the Bible.
1 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
but the context has ominous tones. after 70 years...
8 For thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Do not let your prophets and your diviners who are in your midst deceive you, nor listen to your dreams which you cause to be dreamed.
9 For they prophesy falsely to you in My name; I have not sent them, says the Lord.
10 For thus says the Lord: After seventy years are completed at Babylon, I will visit you and perform My good word toward you, and cause you to return to this place.
11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
12 Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you.
13 And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
14 I will be found by you, says the Lord, and I will bring you back from your captivity; I will gather you from all the nations and from all the places where I have driven you, says the Lord, and I will bring you to the place from which I cause you to be carried away captive.
Jeremiah 29:8-14
8 Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession.
1 Why do the nations rage, And the people plot a vain thing?
2 The kings of the earth set themselves, And the rulers take counsel together, Against the Lord and against His Anointed, saying,
3 “Let us break Their bonds in pieces And cast away Their cords from us.”
4 He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision.
5 Then He shall speak to them in His wrath, And distress them in His deep displeasure:
6 “Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion.”
7 “I will declare the decree: The Lord has said to Me, ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.
8 Ask of Me, and I will give You The nations for Your inheritance, And the ends of the earth for Your possession.
9 You shall break them with a rod of iron; You shall dash them to pieces like a potter’s vessel.’ ”
10 Now therefore, be wise, O kings; Be instructed, you judges of the earth.
11 Serve the Lord with fear, And rejoice with trembling.
12 Kiss the Son, lest He be angry, And you perish in the way, When His wrath is kindled but a little. Blessed are all those who put their trust in Him.
Psalm 2
