The most important verse in the bible is arguably Genesis 1:1
An important thing to realize when you KNOW God, or want to KNOW God is is that he likes to call himself teh Lord who created the heavens and the earth
Also, when God wants to impress on Job how great He is He refers to creation:
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Genesis 1:1
18 For thus says the Lord, Who created the heavens, Who is God, Who formed the earth and made it, Who has established it, Who did not create it in vain, Who formed it to be inhabited: “I am the Lord, and there is no other.
Isaiah 45:18
1 Then the Lord answered Job out of the whirlwind, and said:
2 “Who is this who darkens counsel By words without knowledge?
3 Now prepare yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer Me.
4 “Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth? Tell Me, if you have understanding.
5 Who determined its measurements? Surely you know! Or who stretched the line upon it?
6 To what were its foundations fastened? Or who laid its cornerstone,
7 When the morning stars sang together, And all the sons of God shouted for joy?
Job 38:1-7
20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,
Romans 1:18-20
So what is my point?
When I was young and heard John 1:1
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 He was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
4 In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it.
John 1:1-5
It sounded spooky and new but I rejoiced in it as we should in all scripture with out really understanding it.
Maybe verse had a little lag on me too.
Now as my son Joch is growing up and we are spending endless hours talking about math, quantum physics and string theory I am again so fully aware that the math does say much about God.
