God wants us all His people to be prophets.
29. Then Moses said to him, “Are you zealous for my sake? Oh, that all the Lord’s people were prophets and that the Lord would put His Spirit upon them!”
Numbers 11:29
1. Pursue love, and desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophesy.2. For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.3. But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men.
1 Corinthians 14:1-3
Prophesying is about speaking God plan and truth which is Christ into the earth and into other people. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word and the since the fall God has been prophesying.
Prophets are people send by God with a specific spiritual message.
The prophets expect more form God and form the tithers than what the tithers can think or believe or conceive of. That's why the prophets are sometimes weird, crude, rough and uncivilized. They have been sent to shock the tithers out of their earthly coma and to momentarily make them see SPIRIT.
7As they departed, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? 8“But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Indeed, those who wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses. 9“But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet. 10“For this is he of whom it is written:
‘Behold, I send My messenger before Your face,
Who will prepare Your way before You.’
11“Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist; but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. 12“And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffers violence, and the violent take it by force. 13“For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. 14“And if you are willing to receive it, he is Elijah who is to come. 15“He who has ears to hear, let him hear! 16“But to what shall I liken this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to their companions, 17“and saying:
‘We played the flute for you,
And you did not dance;
We mourned to you,
And you did not lament.’
18“For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, ‘He has a demon.’ 19“The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, ‘Look, a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax collectors and sinners!’ But wisdom is justified by her children.”
Matthew 11
This is clear enough in the Old Testament, but most people are confused how to handle the Old Testament prophets now that we have the indwelling Spirit and even more how to handle New Testament Prophets.
In the New Testament there are three categories of gifts given by God. THE GIFTS. The Gifts are Important
One finds prophets in each category so we need to know how to handle them when they speak and how to conduct one self, if you are indeed a prophet.
17. “Do not think that I came to destroy the Law or the Prophets. I did not come to destroy but to fulfill.18. “For assuredly, I say to you, till heaven and earth pass away, one jot or one tittle will by no means pass from the law till all is fulfilled.19. “Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in the kingdom of heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.20. “For I say to you, that unless your righteousness exceeds the righteousness of the scribes and Pharisees, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.
Matthew 5:17-20
10. Of this salvation the prophets have inquired and searched carefully, who prophesied of the grace that would come to you,11. searching what, or what manner of time, the Spirit of Christ who was in them was indicating when He testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that would follow.12. To them it was revealed that, not to themselves, but to us they were ministering the things which now have been reported to you through those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven—things which angels desire to look into.
