Adam, Sin & Babylon

Adam

Adam is the human, natural and biological father of all humans. We derive our biological life from Adam.

Adam is spiritually dead because of the fall and his DNA is sinful. The sons of Adam, (all human beings) follow in the simple law on creation: "like father like son".

We sin and are sinful because we are born of our human father Adam. baboon beget baboons and sinful Adam begets sinners. Its a DNA issue.

In order to escape the death and sin in Adam we must be killed.

This death is available to us by being baptized in Christ's death on the cross and resurrected by the Spirit. Romans 6 & 8 speaks of this most powerfully as does Galatians 2:20.

The only way out of the cursed DNA of Adam and the sin that flows naturally out of Adam is death in Christ.

Sin

Sin is the cursed nature, which is in Adam because of the fall. The fall and sin made Adam spiritually dead and now all of Adam’s biological offspring are all born spiritually dead.

Babylon

All the sons of Adam, who live and sin on earth constitute the "world" that we are commanded to "not love".

15. Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.16. For all that is in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not of the Father but is of the world.17. And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever.

1 John 2:15-17

In the Bible the world in rebellion against God is called “Babylon.” The Old Testament prophets often prophesied the fall of Babylon, the capital of an empire that destroyed God’s city, Jerusalem, and carried His people away as captives. So in Revelation Babylon is a word-picture for a society that persecuted God’s people but that God will eventually destroy.
