Israels Husband
Ever wondered why the sign of the Abrahamic covenant was circumcision?
Why a cutting on the male sexual organ? The original and final sign of human power, prowess, fruitfulness and reproduction, the ultimate sign of generation for the purpose of the new covenant, the regeneration.
It is because the purpose of the covenant of Abraham was for God to intrude the new covenant by which he would beget sons and daughters for himself by the Spirit, a new and holy people.
3. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
1 Peter 1:3
15. For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.
1 Corinthians 4:15
10. I appeal to you for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten while in my chains,
Philemon 10
16. “This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, says the Lord: I will put My laws into their hearts, and in their minds I will write them,”17. then He adds, “Their sins and their lawless deeds I will remember no more.”18. Now where there is remission of these, there is no longer an offering for sin.
Hebrews 10:16-18
29. but he is a Jew who is one inwardly; and circumcision is that of the heart, in the Spirit, not in the letter; whose praise is not from men but from God.
Romans 2:29
23. And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty,24. but our presentable parts have no need. But God composed the body, having given greater honor to that part which lacks it,25. that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another.26. And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.27. Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually.28. And God has appointed these in the church: first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations, varieties of tongues.29. Are all apostles? Are all prophets? Are all teachers? Are all workers of miracles?30. Do all have gifts of healings? Do all speak with tongues? Do all interpret?31. But earnestly desire the best gifts. And yet I show you a more excellent way.
1 Corinthians 12:23-31
