Beloved "The Revelation of Jesus Christ" is not about predicting the future.
Not all the events recorded are necessarily future.
What one does find is a basic chronological story line with a huge number of visions or flashbacks that retell the entire story in a different genre.
If one reads it to understand the history of the planet and mankind in the light of Jesus Christ, instead of trying to string everything together chronologically in order to predict the second coming or the rapture or identify the anti-christ, then it becomes a very powerful and truly prophetic book.
Please also understand prophecy is not about predicting the future either. Prophecy is about clearly and decisively proclaiming the will of God. Some manifestations of God plan are in the future and so an element of foretelling is always present, but its not for divination.
Divination is a lustful desire to know the future without patiently progressing into God's plan on God's terms.
I honestly think the most confusing part is the violence God unleashes on the earth. We grew up thinking Ezekiel and Zechariah are past and not relevant and that Jesus is more like Ghandi than Stalin, you know ... "God is Love" and "God is no longer angry" etc etc.
Beloved Jesus loves us and is with us throughout.
This book was written by Jesus Himself and was given to encourage us, but most of all, to show us the real and whole Jesus.
As one old American janitor put it so aptly "Jesus wins!"
THE REVELATION OF JESUS CHRIST
12 “And behold, I am coming quickly, and My reward is with Me, to give to every one according to his work.
13 “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End, the First and the Last.”
14 Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates into the city.
15 But outside are dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.
16 “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things in the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, the Bright and Morning Star.”
17 And the Spirit and the bride say, “Come!” And let him who hears say, “Come!” And let him who thirsts come. Whoever desires, let him take the water of life freely.
18 For I testify to everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds to these things, God will add to him the plagues that are written in this book;
19 and if anyone takes away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part from the Book of Life, from the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.
20 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming quickly.” Amen. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!
