ついにTEDもSLOW再生が可能になった。2010年11月14日以来、あれほど懇願して
きたものが、「さ～て、どうなってるかな？」と軽い気持ちで覗いてみたら、あら！
出来てるやん！てな感じで、当たり前のようにSLOW側の再生スピードが選択でき
るようになっていることに気が付いた。（2020/01/20）
注目すべき点は、下のスクリーンショットの画面の右下の白い部分です。
Speed 〇 0.5ｘ 〇 0.75ｘ ● Normal ○ 1.25ｘ ○ 1.5ｘ ○ 2ｘ となって
いる部分です。これを10年前に提案しリクエストし、ようやく実装されたのです。
ただし、YouTubeのiPhoneアプリはSpeed変更が可能ですが、TEDのiPhoneアプリ
では Speed変更が、まだ出来ないようです。下のスクショはWindows10のものです。
私はこの機能を非英語圏の人々が、字幕なしにTED Talkを楽しめ、勉強ができる
ようにするため、そして、TED Talkの新しい世界を拓くために提案し、要求した
のです。足かけ１０年を要したことになる。この経緯は、下のオリジナルの文章
をご覧ください。
以下は、メールの日付から見て、2017年03月08日頃に書いたオリジナルの文章

なんと、気が付いたらTEDもYouTubeも再生スピードが可変速になっていた。
TEDは、Normal→ｘ1.25→ｘ1.50→ｘ2.0倍速の速くなる一方の可変速に。
一方、YouTubeは、ｘ0.25←ｘ0.50←標準→ｘ1.25→ｘ1.50→ｘ2.0倍速の
速い方も遅い方も選択できるようになっていた。
これは、言っても信じてもらえないかもしれないが、私のアイデアだったんだ。
一番下のメールの日付を見てほしい。「Sunday, November 14, 2010 2:27 PM」
2010年に私は当時のTEDの責任者 laura@gallowaymediagroup.comと
Subtitles @ TEDにSubject: TEDTalk "play back speed adjust function" を
リクエストしていたのだ。
もちろん、TED内部に同じアイデアを持った人がいたのかも知れない。
しかし、その機能の実装を見れば、考え方というか、目的は正反対である。
TEDは時短の為、再生スピードを速くする一方の機能を追加し提供した。
私は、非英語圏の視聴者のために、「ゆっくりと再生」できる機能をメインに
リクエストしていたのだ。 もちろん、 Speed-Control-Button such as
Faster-Normal-Slowerと示しているように速くする機能もリクエストしている。
そして、YouTubeはその両方を実装している。
以下は、TEDとのやり取りの記録である。APR 24, 2016にTED SupportのScottは
「開発チームに考慮するよう、機能リクエストとして私のメールを記録した。」
と言ってきた。
やられちまったな～！
（相手が非営利団体～慈善団体のようなものだから許してあげようかな・・っと。
こんなことなら、営利企業のYouTubeに提案しておけばよかったかも。）

I’m a Japanese who love TEDTalk very much.
I sometimes enjoy to see TEDTalk a week.
TEDtalks are very important treasures on the Internet!!
How can I describe how much I love TEDTalks and all of TED’s activities.
I’m spreading TED to my friends present and future on my Home Page.

However there is one problem…the language barrier.
(Though I recommending study English using TEDTalks with subtitle and transcripts)
I know, Japanese subtitles is very helpful for us.
However it’s seems too slow preparing subtitles for new TEDTalks coming week by week.
And it’s very fast that Japanese subtitle being displayed appear and disappear especially graphs and/or lists are used in Talks.
You don’t see subtitles and graph/lists at the same time.
So I’d like to make a proposal that make it possible viewer can adjust the play back speed keeping voice quality.
I suppose there are many people who can hear and understand original voice if it were a little slow without subtitle.
TEDTalkers are very smartest people and they can speak very fast like machine-guns!
Of course I’m not saying making subtitles is unnecessary work. It is needed especially for the ear handicapped peoples..
This might be a little hard project but I believe the TED’s sponsors have enough technologies required to this capability come true.
Also I believe this “play back speed adjust function” can open new world for TEDTalks.
Please open your treasures to more peoples whose domestic language is other than English and who want to learn more.
I think this is helpful not only TEDTalks but also every sub-real time(once stored and play backed) communication in near future.
I’m not sure you are the appropriate person to send this proposal.
If not please forward this to the appropriate peoples.

Hi, TED team!
I appreciate that TED now have the function which I called " Speed-Controll-Button such as Faster-Normal-Slower" in attached
messages though it is regretful Faster only. (This is a betrayal! As you may know YouTube now have Faster-Normal-Slower function.)
By the way, Did TED let me know this introduction based on recorded Case #: 999999 prior to introduce?
If not, who should I talk about? An attorney? Of course About the Missing Benefit, Profit and Interest which should belongs to me.
Can I demand TED to pay 10,000,000$+ for me? For the sake of providing a GREAT IDEA!!
If you don't pay it I would finally...and ...definitely demand TED to introduce not only Faster-Normal but also -Slower function completely
as I had requested below. Sooner is better!
YouTube did it. Why TED?
