Narrator: Saying goodbye to someone…it's never an easy thing to do. In fact, it's downright hard! But that’s life! People leave and we have to say goodbye. We need more hellos!
Laura: There we go. I think I’ve got most everything packaged up.
Michelle: I know you’ve already made up your mind, but are you sure you don’t want to stay here and graduate with all of your friends? We don’t mind having you here.
Laura: I’m sure. I want to do the last year of high school back home and live with my family again. I mean, you guys are my family too. I meant with my parents. Though…
Marisa: I think we get it, Laura. Did you at least let all of your friends know about this?
Laura: I was waiting for the right time to tell them. I was thinking like as soon as I’m leaving for the airport.
Michelle: Come on Laura!
Laura: Yeah, you’re right. I just don’t know how to break it to them. (Outside Misty’s house)
Winona: So if Ash passes this final test, he will be initiated into the squad?
Misty: Yup. As long as he passes, he graduates this Friday. They’re going to have this big ceremony and everything. So I need to pick out a nice dress to wear.
Winona: I thought you got everything from your house when you moved in with me.
Misty: Actually, most of my nice dresses are still here. (Opens the door) Hi everybody.
Daisy: Misty, what are you doing here?
Misty: I came to pick up something.
Daisy: Oh, Winona. How nice to see you again! Have you put on a little weight?
Misty: She’s pregnant! How insensitive can you possibly be? Let’s go Winona. I apologize for my sister being insensitive.
Winona: No apologies needed. Daisy's just the same as she's always been.
Misty: True. (She opens a door) WHAT THE FUCK?!
Josh: (Burps) Hey, keep it down. I’m sleeping off a hangover! (Misty drags him in the hallway and shuts the door)
Winona: Now I can see why you don’t like returning here. What do your parents say about a strange guy sleeping in your old bedroom?
Misty: Not much considering they’re never really around. Dad is always on a business trip and Mom has been traveling the Amazon the last few weeks. Now help me choose something!
Winona: Okay, how about this one? Wow, this one is very pretty!
Misty: I do like the colors and…Hey wait! I don’t even remember getting this dress! (The door opens)
Violet: There it is. I was wondering where I put that.
Misty: Why did you put one of your dresses in my closet?
Violet: Well, my closet was full to capacity when I bought this and your closet was bare, so what the hell! Can’t let open space go to waste! But perfect, I can use this for my trip.
Misty: What trip?
Violet: Oh, I’m leaving for California on Friday.
Misty: I’m surprised. Did you win some sort of beauty contest or something?
Violet: No contest. This is just to be with my boyfriend. Finals are over and I want to take it easy for a couple of weeks. You know what I mean Misty?
Misty: I get your message. I take it you, Lily, and Daisy are going together.
Violet: No way. If I went with them, Daisy would want to invite that dirt-bag, Josh and then Lily would want her two skanky friends from the sorority house to come. I am not doing that. This trip is for me, myself, and I! But if you want to join me Misty, you’re more than welcome to. I don’t mind it if you came!
Misty: Gee thanks, but if you’re leaving Friday, no can do! I’m going to Ash’s big ceremony into the police academy that night.
Violet: Well, I don’t leave until the nighttime. If you change your mind, just let me know. (She leaves the room)
Winona: I always forget Violet is the nice one.
Misty: Yeah, that’s true. But that’s not saying a lot. Let’s get back to the search. (The next day at school)
Dawn: Okay, we just have Today, Tomorrow, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday to get through! Then all next week to pack and soon enough, we’ll be on our way to Europe.
Zoey: I can’t wait!
Marley: I’m sure it’s going to be fun. I’ve been saving up for this trip all year.
Brianna: How’d you do that?
Marley: I took up a few part-time jobs since the beginning of the year.
Zoey: And I got a part-time job after school.
Dawn: That explains why you didn’t do any sports or activities this year.
Zoey: Well, we all can’t have mothers that pay our way through Europe. (Laura walks up)
Laura: Hi guys.
Dawn: There you are. I wanted to talk to you.
Laura: What about?
Dawn: We just saw the list for the Europe trip and you’re not going with us. Laura, why on earth are you not going to Europe with us?
Laura: I just can’t…That’s all.
Dawn: Oh, was it lack of funds?
Laura: It’s just something else. (A little later in the Principal’s office)
Oak: Have a seat Zoey.
Zoey: What’s going on? Did I do something wrong?
Oak: No such thing. I was wondering if you would like to do something extra for next year’s classes. I was looking through your senior year schedule and you have one class slot open.
Zoey: Yeah, I had no ideas for classes since I’m in good standing with the credits I have already.
Oak: Well if you’re interested, would you like to be an office aid for me?
Zoey: Say what? I thought Laura's your office aid!
Oak: She is…or was. As you might be well-aware she’s moving back with her mother and father and finishing up high school there.
Zoey: She’s what? This is all news to me.
Oak: Really? I thought Laura would have told you about her departure by now.
Zoey: Thanks for the news Principal Oak. I’ll think about my decision on whether or not I want to be an office aid. (She walks out of the office) Laura is leaving? I wonder why she’s going back home. (She walks back to the classroom)
Dawn: (Whispering) Where’d you go?
Zoey: Oh, Principal Oak wanted me for something. (After class)
Brianna: I can’t believe senior year is almost here. Can you girls believe it?
Dawn: Oh yeah, it’s a real hoot.
Zoey: Yeah. (Sighs) Great!
Dawn: Something wrong Zoey?
Zoey: Sort of. I just found out something I’m not too happy about.
Dawn: Really, what’s going on?
Zoey: Well… (Sees Laura) I’ll tell you in a second. (Walks over) Laura, we need to talk.
Laura: Sure, what about?
Zoey: I don’t know why you didn’t tell me or anybody else about this. I don’t know why I had to hear this from Principal Oak of all people. But I need to know! Is it true that you're leaving?
Laura: That’s the last time I trust a principal to keep a secret.
Zoey: So it is true! (She nods) Why didn’t you tell us? Why are you leaving? When are you leaving? How long have you been keeping this from us?
Laura: I wanted to tell you guys, but I didn’t know how to break it to you. I mean I feel bad that I’m leaving on Saturday and this…
Zoey: Saturday? But this is so sudden!
Laura: I’m sorry Zoey. (Bell rings) I have to go. (She runs off)
Zoey: Goodbye. (Dawn walks up)
Dawn: What’s going on? You look like you’ve just witnessed a murder.
Zoey: Laura is…leaving. (At the police station)
Joel: Pencils down. (All sigh) Take an hour for lunch and the results will be posted on the front bulletin board. (At the diner)
Lunick: That test was a bitch.
Ash: Tell me about it.
Solana: I’m sure you did great.
Lunick: Thanks. I know you were great.
Solana: So anyways, in honor of this great occasion, lunch is on me. (Misty walks up)
Misty: Hi guys.
Ash: Hey Mist.
Misty: So Ash, how did the test go?
Ash: Oh, don’t ask.
Lunick: I’d take the action course over the written test any day of the week.
Ash: Oh um, I’ll have the cheeseburger.
Lunick: Ditto. Without onions!
Solana: I’ll have the chef’s salad. Gotta watch my weight!
Ash: Oh, you look fine to me!
Solana: Oh Ash, you’re so sweet.
Misty: Coming right up. (Misty looks at Solana) Hmm… (In the kitchen)
Theresa: I’m glad you’re back working full-time, Misty.
Misty: I guess. (Growls)
Winona: Hey, why are you growling?
Misty: I don’t trust that girl out there. The one at Ash’s table!
Theresa: Let me see! (Looks out the door) Oh…Damn, look at how short those shorts are. They go all the way up her crack! But she’s got the legs to pull it off. Damn her! I can see why you don’t like her.
Misty: It’s not that. I don’t trust her around Ash.
Winona: Oh, territory issue. I see.
Misty: Well, even though she gives me an uneasy feeling, I’ll remain confident that Ash will be faithful no matter what.
Theresa: Oh my God, she’s bending over!
Winona: Ugh, dude!
Misty: Well, she puts my shorts to shame! (After school near Pallet High)
Dawn: So Laura is leaving Pallet High?
Zoey: Uh-huh.
Brianna: To go back home, right?
Zoey: Yeah.
Dawn: Oh man. It’s going to be hard not seeing Laura with us when we graduate. I was hoping that the four of us would graduate together.
Brianna: I know what you mean.
Zoey: We have to do something nice for her. She’s leaving so soon, it’s the least we can do.
Dawn: You’re right Zoey. After all she’s done for us throughout the years, she deserves it.
Brianna: But what? (All sigh)
Dawn: Hey, I’ve got it. (At Laura’s house)
Michelle: Marisa, phone for you.
Marisa: I’ve got it. Hello. Oh, hi Dawn! Huh? Yeah, just tell me the plan. That sounds good. (The door opens) Ah! Oh yes Tracey, I will see you tomorrow. Love you, kiss, kiss!
Laura: Sorry to bother you during one of your love-fests, but can I borrow your pencil sharpener. I have to finish this History paper.
Marisa: On the desk. (Back at the police station)
Ash: Moment of truth, you guys!
Lunick: Let’s go! (All sigh)
Ash: I passed! What a relief.
Lunick: Same here.
Solana: Same. We’re in the clear! (They high-five each other)
Joel: Not yet.
All: Huh?
Joel: Your final clearance will be the obstacle course and depending on how well your whole team does, only then will you graduate. (He walks away)
Ash: Don’t worry you guys, I’m sure we can pass that obstacle course, easy.
Solana: I don’t know.
Ash: Come on Solana, don’t ever doubt yourself. I’ve seen you on the field and you’re great. (She blushes) Just trust yourself and I know you can do it.
Solana: Oh Ash.
Lunick: (Thinking) Go cuddle your own girlfriend, Ketchum! (At the grocery store)
Dawn: What do we need for the party?
Brianna: Try snacks, genius!
Dawn: Right. What kind of snacks?
Brianna: (Sighs) Dawn, why don’t you go place an order for a cake and I'll buy the snacks. (She walks away) Geez, what a space-case! (Nearby)
Gary: Ooh, sale on Ramen.
Dawn: Excuse me ma’am. I would like to customize this cake to say “So Long Laura.”
Gary: I know that girl. (Flashback to a year ago) Laura?
Laura: Gary. (She glares at him)
Gary: Oh, you want an explanation!
Dawn: You’ve got some nerve cheating on my best friend.
Gary: Who are you? (Dawn kicks him in the shin) Ouch! (End of flashback) She’s one of Laura’s friends.
Brianna: Dawn, I’ve got the snacks. Did you get the cake?
Dawn: I sure did.
Lady: And you want it to say “So Long Laura?”
Brianna: Dawn, that sounds like we’re happy she’s leaving. Couldn’t we put down, “Good luck” or “We wish you well” or something like that?
Dawn: Hey, don’t give me lip. I’m doing the cake!
Brianna: Well, we want this going away party to go through perfectly. I mean if Laura is leaving, we want her to remember that her friends love her.
Gary: Laura’s leaving? Oh man, this might be my chance. (At Misty’s apartment)
Ash: So now we have this obstacle course to run in order to get into the academy. As if the test wasn’t enough!
Misty: You’ve done well with the course before.
Ash: Man, I dropped out of college for this?
Misty: Ash sweetie, if I’m sure of anything, I’m sure you’ll pass that test with flying colors.
Ash: Oh Mist, you’re always good for a pep talk. That’s why I love you.
Misty: Say Ash…
Ash: What is it?
Misty: Never mind. It’s nothing…You should get home. You need all the rest you can get.
Ash: I don’t feel much like going home. (Misty smiles and turns off the light)
Narrator: This sex scene has been brought to you in part by, Preparation H. For that relief you might need...down there. Oh right! Time to go on with the story! Ash left the apartment at four in the morning to go to where the obstacle course was. After last night’s conversation and romp in the sheets, Ash has this extra boost of confidence. He felt like he could conquer anything…Well let's move on with the story, back at Pallet High…
Riley: WHAT? You’re leaving?
Laura: Yes.
Riley: And you didn’t have the nerve to tell me? For Christ sake, we’re boyfriend and girlfriend.
Laura: Now hold it right there! We have never been and never will be boyfriend and girlfriend! We’ve never even been on a date!
Riley: Yeah and now it’ll never happen. Why Laura? Why would you do this to me?
Laura: I didn’t do this to you. It’s just that…I miss my parents and my siblings. I love this place with all my heart, but a part of me wants to go back home, where I belong. Do you understand that?
Riley: …Why are you doing this to me?
Laura: Forget it! (She walks away)
Brianna: Hey Riley! Get over here! (He walks over) We're throwing Laura a going away party and we’re inviting you.
Riley: Really? I’m invited?
Dawn: You have to shut up about it though!
Zoey: It’s Friday night at Laura’s cousin’s house.
Dawn: Here are the directions. It’s Friday at 7pm. Be there at 6pm to help us set up.
Riley: I know just what to do! (He runs off)
Brianna: What do you think he’s going to do?
Dawn: As long as it doesn’t involve him getting a tattoo on any part of his body, I think we’re safe. (A little later at the police station)
Ash: (Sighs) Oh man, I still have some extra energy to burn off!
Lunick: What’s with this extra boost of energy, Ash? Are you on drugs? And if so, can I have some?
Ash: Eh, I don’t think you should be asking that if you’re planning on becoming a cop.
Lunick: Right. So what’s the secret?
Ash: Well, it’s just that I have an extra boost of confidence.
Lunick: Hmm…Me thinks this has to do with your lady friend. So tell me Ash, did you “rock” her world last night?
Ash: I’m not the type to kiss and tell.
Lunick: Fine, don’t share your secret. It’s not like I can ever get a girlfriend.
Ash: Hey, you need more confidence in yourself…Sorry, I stole that from my girlfriend yesterday.
Lunick: (Sighs) I don’t know what to do Ash! About this obstacle course and trying to win the girl of my dreams!
Ash: Run that by me again.
Lunick: Every time we run the obstacle course, I always mess it up at the end of my turn and it’s because of…
Ash: Because of?
Lunick: (Sighs) Solana! Man, every time I’m around her, I get all weak in the knees and I just turn into a babbling idiot. Plus every time I hand off the baton to Solana, I always screw up that last part of the course and throwing our time off. Oh, this is just like when I was on the cross-country team in high school. There’d be a cute girl waiting for me at the end of my course and I would screw it up.
Ash: Hey look, there are three parts of the obstacle course and Solana always runs the last part. So do the obvious thing and do the first part. You’ll be handing the baton to me now.
Lunick: Huh? I never thought of it like that. Okay, let's do that. (Later in the Pallet High choir room)
Riley: (Singing) Oh Laura, you don’t know how much I love you…
Forrest: Are you sure you want to do this? Make an ass out of yourself for a girl who doesn’t want to be your girlfriend?!
Conway: And who’s leaving in a matter of days?
Riley: I want her to know how I feel. Plus, she’ll want to stay once she hears me play the old strings. Now come on, I need some backup singers.
Conway: Oh sure. And while you’re at it, do you want us to dress up like hookers and dance for you too?
Riley: You’d do that? (All sigh) Look, I just want Laura to know how I feel.
Conway: Um dude, your feelings for her have literally been an open book for the last two years. She knows how you feel about her and she’s denied you several times.
Riley: Way to bring a man down!
Narrator: And so Riley continued to practice. (Plays sour note on guitar) Yeah, let’s get away from this atomic bomb! Moving along to the big obstacle challenge the following day! Lunick was getting himself motivated to be with Solana. In fact, that was his hook for him to actually do surprisingly well on his challenge. Thus, getting the team to finish their challenge in record time! And now, we turn to the exciting part of the story…
Ash: No can do! The last time I helped out a friend with love problems, it almost ended my relationship with Misty.
Lunick: Look, its really simple. I just want you to give this note to Solana and by Friday night, I’ll know my answer.
Ash: You owe me for this. (In another room)
Aria: That was some nice work you did out there, Solana.
Solana: Thank you.
Elita: Let’s go out tonight to celebrate on your job well done.
Solana: You girls wanna take me out?
Aria: I think you’ve earned it. (Ash walks up)
Solana: Oh, hi Ash.
Ash: Here, this is for you. See you tomorrow, Solana. (He walks away)
Solana: A note?
Aria: What’s it say?
Solana: (Gasp) Ash loves me! And he wants to know my decision on Friday night. The night of the ceremony! (Friday morning in the front office of Pallet High)
Oak: It’s going to be so strange not having you around Laura.
Laura: You say that to every assistant!
Oak: Oh, don’t say that. I just can’t believe it's Friday already.
Miss Agatha: I’m so sad to see you go as well.
Laura: Guys, don’t be like that. (Outside the office)
Brianna: Dawn, are you crying?
Dawn: I can’t help it. I’m going to miss Laura.
Brianna: Hey dummy, you’re still going to see her tonight at the party.
Zoey: Hey, shut up about the party. It’s supposed to be a surprise! (The door opens)
Laura: Hi guys…Come on you guys. Don’t be like that. (Dawn starts crying) I didn’t do this to hurt you. It’s just that I miss my family. You guys understand, right? (Bell rings)
Brianna: Time for class.
Zoey: Can’t be late for those finals!
Dawn: Um…right. (They all leave)
Laura: I hate seeing them like this. (Later at Ash’s house)
Delia: (Sobbing) I can’t believe my baby is going to be a cop.
Ash: Oh Mom, stop with the tears.
Delia: I can’t help it. I was afraid when you joined the army, but now that you’ll be a policeman here, I just don’t know what to do but worry.
Ash: Relax Mom. I promise you, I’ll be safe.
Delia: Like you promised me when you were in the army and you came back to me with a broken arm! (Sighs) But I suppose boys will be boys! (Knock on the door)
Gary: Can I come in?
Delia: Sure Gary. Excuse me for a second boys, I have to get something from the other room. (She leaves)
Ash: So what’s up?
Gary: (Sighs) Well, I had my doubts about you becoming a cop at first. But you stuck with it and now you’re being inducted. That’s a very good move Ash!
Ash: You really think so? (He nods)
Gary: Say Ash, you’ve got your life pretty much together. A lot more than me! I’m struggling with my grades in school, I haven’t had a steady girlfriend for a while...Ash, do you know how I can win a girl's heart again?
Ash: Huh? Who am I, the Love Guru? What’s the problem?
Gary: You remember my situation with Laura?
Ash: Oh right! You broke her heart by cheating on her with some random girl.
Gary: Problem is, I heard she’s leaving to go back home and she isn’t coming back. It wasn’t a good situation when we parted ways. I showed no remorse for my actions and it has eaten me up inside. Should I go and tell Laura?
Ash: Well…I don’t think if she ever wants to ever see you again. I mean, that family has the tendency to hold grudges. I mean, you know Marisa’s influence played on Laura.
Gary: True.
Ash: But, if you’re sincere with your apology, she might forgive you. Who knows? She won’t leave town thinking you’re lower than scum.
Gary: You’re right.
Ash: Where are you going?
Gary: I’ve got to go tell Laura that I’m sorry. Oh and congratulations on making the squad. I’m sure…you’ll make our family proud.
Ash: (Smiles) Thank you…Gary. (A little later at Marisa’s house)
Dawn: Here’s the cake!
Marisa: Okay, let’s see it.
Marley: “Sayonara Laura?”
Brianna: Geez, why don’t you just put down, “Don’t Come Back?”
Dawn: Why you…
Marisa: Guys, Laura isn’t going to care about the cake. (Knock on the door) She’s early?
Dawn: Oh crap!
Marisa: Wait a second. That’s not my mother’s car.
Zoey: So who is it?
Marisa: Just open the door! (Zoey opens the door)
Zoey: Oh wow, long time no see.
Marcus: Same here!
Tracey: We decided to see Laura off!
Dawn: Well that was nice of you guys!
Marcus: I brought tissues in case you all needed it!
Brianna: We’re well prepared! (Knock on the door)
Marisa: What the…Did somebody order a band?
Marley: Pathetic.
Brianna: You’ve got to be kidding me! (She opens the door) What the hell, Riley?
Riley: What’s wrong? I can play!
Brianna: Oh, I know. We all saw it at this year’s talent show. (Flashback a couple of months ago)
Riley: (Singing)
When it gets cold outside and you got nobody to love
You'll understand what I mean when I say
There's no way we're gonna give up
And like a little girl cries in the face of a monster that lives in her dreams
Is there anyone out there cause it's getting harder and harder to breathe… (Boos)
Is…there anyone out there? (End of flashback)
Forrest: Hey, that was a tough crowd.
Conway: It wasn’t his fault that his white sweatshirt made him look like a KKK member. Probably shouldn't have put the hood up either!
Riley: I make one fashion disaster and suddenly I’m a racist.
Brianna: Well that and you’re no Adam Levine! Don’t sing anymore Maroon 5 songs!
Zoey: And why are they here?
Riley: They’re my backup singers!
Forrest: Hey, you promised us some skanky groupies!
Riley: Take your pick! We’ve got two lesbians, one mean bitch, one bisexual, and one…
Marisa: Don’t even go there! (A little later)
Riley: (Singing) Smoke on the water…
Brianna: SHE’S HERE!
Marisa: Okay, places everyone!
Dawn: Turn off the lights and for the love of God, shut the hell up! (The door opens)
Michelle: Okay. We’re home! (Lights turn on)
All: SURPRISE!
Laura: Oh my God! (Guitar rifts)
Brianna: Will you shut up, Jimmy Hendrix?
Laura: What’s all this about?
Dawn: We wanted to give you one hell of a going away party.
Zoey: You see, you’re one of our best friends.
Brianna: And best friends like us stick together! You know we love you!
Laura: Guys, this is so great…I’m so happy I could…
Dawn: Open up a box of tissue!
Marcus: How about we cut the cake? (Marisa hits him) What? I'm hungry.
Riley: Hold it! I want to give you something. (All groan) Hey, give me a chance!
Laura: Okay, I’ll bite.
Riley: Good, sit in that chair. (Strums a melody) This is a song…dedicated to the prettiest girl in the house. I call it, Laura’s Song!
Brianna: (Sarcastic) Oh, that’s real original!
Zoey: Ssh!
Riley: (Singing)
I’ve said so many things to send you away
But every time I see you, you make my day
And now that you’re gone, I don’t know what to do
And all of this is making me…three shades of blue!
You light up my heart when you walk through that door
You’ve got the greatest moves on the dance floor
What more can a guy ask for?
I ask you…Don’t walk out that door, please stay for more
I swear you’re not a whore! (All gasp)
On the scale you’ve got the high score
You’re the one that I adore
So please stay… (Speaking) And that’s as far as I got! After that, I kind of go off on this sappy Doors cover.
Forrest: Plus, you couldn’t think of anything else that rhymed with whore!
Riley: You, shut up! So tell me Laura…what do you think?
Laura: What do I think? I think…you’re the sweetest… (Knock on the door)
Michelle: Who could that be? (Door opens)
Marcus: Whoa!
Marisa: You can’t be serious!
All: Gary?
Narrator: And this is what we call the death of the party!
Laura: What are you doing here?
Riley: Um, either of you girls want to fill me in?
Dawn: That’s Laura’s ex-boyfriend.
Riley: Ah! (Thinking) Damn, damn, damn, son of a bitch! (Marisa growls) Huh?
Marisa: (Thinking) If he lands one finger on her, his butt will be right on an ambulance stretcher.
Marcus: Damage control! Damage control!
Tracey: Now Marisa, sweetie, honey…
Marisa: (Silently) Where’s my baseball bat?
Marcus: DAMAGE! DAMAGE!
Laura: Um, I’ll be right back, you guys. There’s some last minute things I have to do. I won’t be long.
Narrator: Eh okay…Back at the police academy, there was a big ceremony and all family and loved ones were invited to see the inductees. Yeah, it was so sweet. Delia couldn’t contain herself…She really couldn’t! The woman ran out of tissues and started crying on Principal Oak’s shoulder. Misty as well was in the audience…But things only got weird after the ceremony was over…outside.
Solana: Ash! I want to speak to you alone.
Lunick: Um, Solana…
Solana: I’ll be back in a little bit. (Outside)
Ash: What’s up?
Solana: I think you know what this is about.
Ash: No…Not at all.
Solana: I love you too. (Ash gasps) Your letter was the deal-breaker. I think you should know that I love you too, just like what you wrote in the letter.
Ash: Letter? Oh that. That wasn’t from me, that was from…
Solana: Now, now Ash! Less talking, and more embracing. (Ash blushes)
Ash: Whoa there! You’ve got it all wrong!
Solana: Oh Ash, I’ve always dreamed about this. (Back at party)
Gary: You’re looking well.
Laura: Spare me the flattery and tell me what the hell you want from me. What part of “I’m through with your ass” do you not understand?
Gary: Look…I’m sorry for the pain I caused you and…
Laura: You don’t even know the true meaning of sorry. Are you sorry for making me wait and for being so distant for the last nine months of our relationship? Are you sorry for breaking my heart when you slept with some random girl? Are you? ANSWER ME!
Gary: Yes Laura…It’s been eating me up inside this whole time and yes. I’m sorry. I’m sorry for everything you just said and then some. I know you’re tired of seeing me but know this. I still care about you. Otherwise I wouldn’t be here saying my goodbyes to you.
Laura: Is that it? Why you’re here? Is that why you’re here? To clear your conscience!
Gary: (Sighs) Never mind. I knew you weren’t going to listen to me.
Laura: You are the one at fault here, not me.
Gary: (Sighs) You’re right. (He gets up and walks away)
Laura: Gary, why are you really here?
Gary: I guess…all of the feelings resurfaced when I heard you were leaving. I know it sounds stupid and very cliché, but yes. When I heard you were leaving town, I got sad. I thought I was the reason behind you moving away.
Laura: Gary, if that were the reason, I don’t think I was going to stick around for a whole year after you cheated on me.
Gary: True. I miss you and if you leave now, I’ll miss you even more.
Laura: Gary…Keep missing me because I’m going back home. But, I’ll always remember you to be my first love. That’s something I’ll always keep with me.
Gary: (Smiles) Have fun back home. Um, did you want me to give you a kiss goodbye?
Laura: Do you want me to get my cousin out here?
Gary: Ah, you make an excellent argument. Goodbye Laura. (They shake hands and he walks away)
Laura: Okay, one down and a whole household to go. (She walks back inside) Okay, before anyone says anything, Gary and I are not back together. I spent the whole conversation yelling at him and belittling him.
Marisa: Get off your soapbox sweetie, we know.
Marcus: We could hear you from a mile away.
Marisa: I know you can take care of yourself, so I decided to stay out of this one. Well that and Tracey held me back. The point is I knew you weren’t going to go back to him. I trust your judgment.
Brianna: Now, I think there’s someone you should talk to.
Dawn: Riley’s over there sulking in the corner. (She walks over)
Laura: Riley.
Riley: Say no more. I’ll shut up with the songs.
Laura: No…it’s not that. Here. This is my home phone number. Maybe when I get back, you can call me sometime. (He gasps) And who knows? Maybe when college comes along, I might be back. You never know. Stranger things have happened.
Riley: True.
Laura: I’m sorry I never really gave you a chance.
Riley: Laura… (He kisses her on the cheek)
Laura: Riley… (They all gasp) I really am going to miss you. (They hug)
Riley: (Thinking) I will wait for you. (Back at the ceremony)
Delia: Where is Ash?
Oak: He hasn’t come out!
Misty: I’ll go find him. (She walks away) I wonder where he could…There he… (Gasp)
Solana: I love you Ash.
Ash: Please Solana, you have to listen to me…I don’t… (She kisses him on the lips)
Misty: Oh Ash… (She drops a bouquet of flowers on the ground)
Ash: Huh? Misty! (She runs away) Misty, wait!
Misty: (Thinking) Is that what you’re going to do to me? Is that how you’re going to screw me over? I guess that’s it! I hate you Ash Ketchum! (Horn honks) Huh?
Violet: Misty, is that you?
Misty: (Sobbing) Violet!
Violet: Get in the car! (She gets in the car and they drive away)
Ash: MISTY! (In the car)
Misty: I'm glad you came when you did.
Violet: I was in the area and I thought that was you. What's wrong? You look like you've been crying.
Misty: It’s over. Ash and me that is! We’re through. I’m done!
Violet: Rough time I take it. You need a vacation.
Misty: You know what…You’re right. Violet, let me go to California with you.
Violet: You decided that on the spur of the moment? Okay kid, we’ll stop by your place to pack you all up.
Misty: (Thinking) Goodbye Ash.
Narrator: To be continued.
