~New Characters Introduced~
Professor Rowan and Butch
Original Date of Post: 03/09/2008
Narrator: No matter what, if you have a reputation at school, that reputation will stick with you well after your graduation day. Mine didn’t start until my senior year when I did something at Prom. But that’s a story for another day!
Sakura: (Sighs) Great, another day.
Misty: Why are you so down Sakura?
Sakura: Do you ever have one of those days where you just don’t want to get out of bed and you keep asking yourself, “What’s the point?”
Misty: Oh, is it that time of the month?
Sakura: What the hell? NO! What I mean is that we’re well into our junior year and I’m starting to feel a little left out of the dating circuit.
Misty: You can’t be serious! Is that all?
Sakura: Don’t laugh! It’s not that easy for me to get a date these days. The people at this school see me as an egghead! Not to mention, all of the rumors that flew around here when I gained all that weight.
Misty: Eh, it’s not all about trying to find a date or a boyfriend you know. I seem to recall that school is a place to learn.
Sakura: Shut up.
Misty: Besides, why do you want to get a boyfriend so bad?
Sakura: It’s kind of silly, but I’m starting to feel a little left out around here.
Misty: Left out?
Sakura: Almost everybody and their mother have a boyfriend or girlfriend or whatever!
Misty: Now that’s not true. Marcus and Brock are single!
Sakura: Are you suggesting that I date one of them?
Misty: Brock is pretty desperate, but he can be pretty picky. I think you have a better chance with Marcus.
Sakura: (Sighs) No. (Marcus, Marisa, and Tracey walk up) I like Marcus, but only as a friend.
Marcus: Am I going to hear that for the rest of my life or is this just a wild coincidence?
Sakura: Oh, Marcus…
Marcus: Eh, don’t worry about it. Truth is I’m really taking a break from girls. Too much hassle for me right now and I just want to focus on my homework and the theatre.
Tracey: (Whispering) Is that a sign of Marcus playing for the other team?
Marisa: (Whispering) Doubt it! (Bell rings)
Sakura: Great, time for class. Huh? (Groans)
Tracey: I’ll see you after class!
Marisa: I look forward to it!
Tracey: Love you!
Marisa: Love you back! (Sakura sighs)
Misty: Don’t worry Sakura, you’ll find someone who will love you the way that those two love each other.
Sakura: I hope you’re right Misty. It’s just watching all of these couples in action kind of makes me jealous in a way. Misty? Huh? (Ash and Misty kiss) And that’s not helping one bit! (A little later in Professor Rowan’s class)
Rowan: Alright class, just a reminder that your term paper for The Crucible is due in two days. If you need any help, you know that my door is always open and you can always talk to one of your peers. Remember, it has to be at least five pages, double spaced, a work cited page has to be included, and it is worth 20% of your grade this semester. (Bell rings) Have a nice day. I assume your paper is already done Miss Sakura!
Sakura: Yes sir! I’ve been done for a while now.
Rowan: Good girl, I look forward to reading it.
Sakura: Thank you Professor Rowan. I’ll see you tomorrow. (At the lockers)
James: Hey Sakura, could I talk to you?
Sakura: Okay, but you better make it fast. We have class in a couple of minutes.
James: Look, we both know that you’re the smartest girl in our class and the two of us are in the same English class, and we both have that paper due in two days, and…
Sakura: What’s your point?
James: I need help with my paper on The Crucible.
Sakura: Well, what part do you need help with?
James: Um, just about all of it.
Sakura: What the…What the hell do you do all class, sleep?
James: Look, I read the book and took the notes.
Sakura: Then why do you need me?
James: I just don’t know what to say on the paper. You’ve got to help me Sakura!
Sakura: (Sighs) Fine, I’ll help you with your paper.
James: Great, thank you so much Sakura.
Sakura: Now then, I want you to meet me in the library for lunch. I assume you have a data stick with all of your information.
James: Yeah.
Sakura: Perfect.
James: Oh man, I have rehearsals for the music concert.
Sakura: If you’re not serious and committed to this assignment, then forget about it.
James: Fine. I’ll blow off rehearsals and come straight to the library.
Sakura: Good. Afterwards, we can go to your house and work from there. (At lunch)
Marisa: Hey Misty, is something wrong with Sakura? She didn’t seem much like herself this morning.
Misty: There are a number of things bugging Sakura. Number one is that she wishes that she had a boyfriend.
Brock: Well wish in one hand and crap in the other and see which one fills up faster. I don’t see her making an effort into trying to find a boyfriend. Now me, I can find a girlfriend easy.
Marisa: Bull crap! You have flirted with almost every girl in this school at least three times and every one of them has shot you down.
Brock: Well I have a new method today. (Marina walks by) Watch and learn! Marina, my dear sweet girl! It would make me a very happy man if you would go out with me on a date. What do you say?
Marina: Ugh. Excuse me! (Walks over to Marisa) Do you have a book? All of mine are in my locker.
Marisa: Here you go! I call this one the bug-squisher! (She hits Brock over the head with the book)
Brock: What’s the problem? I was nice and sincere!
Marina: You’re still a pervert, no matter how many times you change your pickup line!
Misty: (Sarcastic) Wow, you sure showed us!
Marisa: So where is Sakura now?
Misty: At a study session with some guy in her English class. (After school near an apartment complex)
Sakura: This neighborhood looks so familiar.
James: You probably saw an episode of Cops. This neighborhood has been featured in several episodes because there are some crack-heads that live around here.
Sakura: (Sarcastic) Great! Now I feel so much safer.
James: Here we are.
Sakura: Wait a second! (Flashbacks of two years ago) This was Shelly’s apartment!
James: Shelly?
Sakura: She’s a friend…Or was a friend.
James: Well I don’t know who this Shelly person is, but I got a killer deal on this place, literally. The dealer said that someone was killed in here and no one else wanted it.
Sakura: What? But Shelly wasn’t killed in here!
Narrator: Let’s freeze for a second. If you remember back in the first season, Shelly got shot by Courtney and died on the sidewalk a couple of blocks away from the apartment. Well, a couple of weeks after Shelly’s death, Courtney broke into Shelly’s old apartment and went through her personal items. In doing so, Courtney was shot several times by some of Shelly’s unnamed henchmen. We now return you to the story already in progress.
James: Okay, let’s get started.
Butch: Don’t mind me. I’m just going to work.
James: That’s my roommate, Bill.
Butch: UGH! THE NAME IS BUTCH! (He walks out the door)
James: Drama Queen!
Sakura: Enough lollygagging, let’s get to work.
Narrator: Throughout the next few hours, Sakura helped James with his paper. It took many, many hours, but James was able to get most of his paper typed up. It was about 9:00pm when the two of them started to feel sleepy. Sakura ended up falling asleep on James’s bed and James fell asleep at the computer. Although, during the night, James got up from the seat and slept on his bed. Not knowing that Sakura was sleeping right next to him. And now, it is 4:30 in the morning! Do you know where your child is? (Sakura groans)
Sakura: (Yawning) Oh, my neck is all messed up! Huh? (Thinking) OH MY GOD! WHAT DID I DO? OH CRAP! I’m still at James’s place! I fell asleep! I better get the hell out of here! (James groans) I better be quiet.
James: (Dreamily) Oh Jessica Alba! I would love to see you bite the head off a chicken!
Sakura: Yikes! (She opens the room door) Okay. I just have to make it to the door and I am home-free! (Butch groans)
Butch: I need some food.
Sakura: (Thinking) God damn it! What the hell is he doing up? It’s too late for a midnight snack and too early for school. Okay, I just have to tiptoe and hopefully he won’t hear me.
Butch: Damn, looks like we’re out of olives. (Hears footsteps) James, is that you? (Sakura whimpers) If you’re going out for your walk, go get some olives, we’re out. (He turns on the light) Huh? HEY YOU’RE NOT JAMES! (Sakura runs out of the apartment)
Sakura: Damn! He saw me! I just have to keep on running! (That morning in the girl’s bathroom)
Marisa: I never understand why girls wear makeup.
Misty: It’s just a little blush. That’s all I put on.
Marisa: Boys should like girls the way they are without all of the face paint on.
Misty: You are so old-fashioned. (The door opens) Hey Sakura!
Marisa: Whoa, you look like you’ve been in a fight with a dog!
Sakura: Huh?
Misty: Your hair is all messed up!
Sakura: I just had one long night.
Misty: With the study session with that guy?
Marisa: Study session, a guy? Ooh, tell me all about it.
Sakura: I don’t feel comfortable talking about it.
Misty: You can trust us completely.
Sakura: Is anyone else in the room?
Both: No! (Sakura locks the door)
Sakura: Good. I was over at James’s apartment helping him with his term paper. But during the session, both of us fell asleep and…
Misty: You spent the night at a boy’s apartment?
Marisa: Wait a minute, did you say James?
Sakura: Keep your voice down. Yes, but absolutely nothing happened. Or at least I hope nothing happened. I woke up and he was on the bed sleeping next to me.
Marisa: Are you sure you guys didn’t have sex?
Sakura: Shut up! Nothing happened! We both fell asleep during the session! But I’m sure nothing terrible happened since my clothes were still on.
Misty: Well, I believe you. I know you wouldn’t do anything that stupid.
Marisa: Is this the James I know from theatre?
Sakura: Yes. But listen, now that I told you this, please don’t tell anybody else about this incident. I would like this thing to just die.
Misty: You have my word.
Marisa: Me too.
Sakura: Thanks. (They open the door)
Marisa: Just as well. You don’t want Jessie to find out about something like this.
Sakura: Jessie?
Marisa: Duh Sakura! That’s James’s girlfriend.
Sakura: James has a girlfriend? Well, so much for what I was thinking.
Marisa: I don’t know how you didn’t know that Jessie and James are together. But either way, you don’t ever want to get Jessie mad at you. She is very territorial. Worse than how Erika is with Joshua.
Misty: Whoa that’s harsh!
Sakura: Now remember Marisa, not a word gets out about any of this.
Marisa: I know! I promise not to tell.
Narrator: Well, during the first half of school, the rumors have already started to surface about Sakura’s night at James’s house.
Grace: I don’t believe it!
Erika: It’s true! I heard it this morning that Sakura was at James’s apartment and instead of studying, they were having sex.
Kelly: That doesn’t sound like Sakura.
Erika: It’s always the quiet ones!
Grace: Now that’s just a myth!
Kelly: But I heard that they had sex in the library. And on top of the photocopier too!
Grace: And that’s just utter nonsense!
Narrator: See what I mean! And now things are about to get crazier! (At lunch)
Drew: Wow, this just doesn’t add up.
Brock: But then again, it’s just a rumor. (Sakura walks up)
Sakura: Hi boys!
Ash: What the hell did you do Sakura?
Brock: The whole school is talking about you.
Drew: I’ve heard different and strange things. Did you really have sex with some guy last night?
Sakura: WHAT?!
Brock: Yeah, there’s this crazy rumor going around school that you were doing some guy from our school.
Drew: Really, I was told that they were in the library doing it.
Sakura: STOP IT! I DID NOT HAVE SEX WITH ANYBODY!!! But I’m going to find out who was telling the school. (Misty walks up) MISTY!
Misty: That can’t be good!
Sakura: Outside! NOW! (In the courtyard) I want some answers now!
Misty: What about?
Sakura: The whole school is talking about me! There are rumors all around saying I had sex with James last night. I only told you and Marisa! Where is she anyways?
Misty: I think she said something about stopping off at the theatre first. I honestly think that neither one of us spilled the beans. Someone outside the girl’s room probably heard our conversation and blabbed to the whole school. I mean let’s face it; the walls at this school are paper thin.
Sakura: That is true. (Sighs) I need to hide out somewhere for a while and get away from all of these people. I’ll be in a classroom somewhere studying! See you later. (She walks away)
Misty: Oh man, poor Sakura. (Whitney walks up)
Whitney: Hey Misty.
Misty: Oh, hi Whitney.
Whitney: Hey, you’re Sakura’s best friend and she probably told you the truth of this farfetched rumor.
Misty: Yeah, but I don’t feel like talking about it.
Whitney: Just as well. I mean when Marisa told me this morning that Sakura and James had sex…
Misty: Marisa told you what?
Whitney: She told me this morning that Sakura and James were at the library yesterday on top of the photocopier having sex and then went back to James’s apartment for an encore.
Misty: But she promised Sakura not to say anything. Plus, she knows Sakura did nothing like that.
Whitney: Why are you surprised? Everybody knows that Marisa has the biggest mouth in school and is most likely to betray anybody that gets in her way. No matter if they’re a friend. (Marisa walks up)
Marisa: Hey guys!
Whitney: Well speak of the backstabber.
Marisa: Excuse me!
Misty: How could you?
Marisa: How could I what?
Misty: You told Sakura’s secret and you spread lies about her.
Marisa: I did what?
Misty: You spread horrible rumors about Sakura, your best friend. And to think I actually called you a friend. (Misty walks away)
Marisa: Wait, Misty! I never told anybody! I swear. What is going on here? (Marisa walks away) I didn’t say anything. (Whitney gives an evil laugh)
Whitney: That should knock you down a few pegs, nark! (A little later)
Marcus: So long story short, it turned out to be a pimple.
Tracey: Great. And now that I know this story, I’m going to ask you to never tell it to me again!
Marcus: Hey, there’s Marisa. (They walk over) Little buddy!
Tracey: There you are. Where were you? (Silence) Marisa?
Marcus: Uh-oh, she’s not talking. This is serious. Marisa, if you can hear me, punch me in the gut as hard as you can. (Silence) I gave it my best shot. (Tracey kneels down)
Tracey: Do you want to talk about it?
Marisa: I don’t feel talking.
Marcus: That’s a first. (She stomps on his foot) OW!
Tracey: Marcus, leave!
Marcus: Fine. (He walks away)
Tracey: Now what’s bothering you?
Marisa: Misty hates me. She yelled at me and accused me of spreading an awful rumor about Sakura.
Tracey: You mean the one about her and James doing it on top of a copy machine?
Marisa: Is that the rumor? Oh man, that’s awful. But you have to believe me; I never said anything like that. Sakura told me the true story this morning and I promised that I wouldn’t say anything about it.
Tracey: If it makes you feel any better, I believe you.
Marisa: Thanks Tracey. (After school in the theatre)
Jessie: Get your act together James. You’ve been sloppy with your singing!
James: You’re not even singing with me! Why do you care?
Jessie: It’s my job to care, that’s why!
James: Oh, sorry Jessie. I guess I have a lot on my mind. I do have an English paper due tomorrow and that’s basically eating up my time.
Jessie: Well shape up James. In two months when we go up on stage and sing, I don’t want people to talk bad about my boyfriend.
James: Anyways, I have to go now. I have to work on my paper. I’ll see you tomorrow. (He leaves)
Erika: Jessie, darling! It’s great that you and James are still talking to each other even after all that has happened between you two!
Jessie: What are you talking about, shrimp?
Erika: Word around school is that James is sleeping with that smarty-pants Sakura.
Jessie: James did WHAT?!
Erika: You didn’t know? I’m surprised since it’s all around school that they did it in the library and at James's apartment.
Jessie: I knew he was acting strange for a reason. That no good jerk cheated on me with some girl named Sack-breath!
Erika: It’s Sakura!
Jessie: Whatever!
Erika: And if you want to catch up with James, you better chase after his car since he most likely left the parking lot.
Jessie: Oh, I’ll get him tomorrow. (Later at Sakura’s house)
Sakura: Marisa said that? Are you sure?
Misty: Whitney told me that she heard the story from Marisa this morning and that she was spreading it all over school.
Sakura: That doesn’t sound like Marisa. Although…
Misty: I still can’t believe she did that.
Sakura: Great. My best friend betrays me, James’s girlfriend is going to kill me, and worst of all my reputation at school is ruined. (The next morning at school)
Marisa: Is it just me or is everybody giving me a weird look this morning? I didn’t tuck my skirt into my underwear did I?
Tracey: No, everything looks fine from the back. But you were right about the weird looks.
May: What the hell did Sakura do to you?
Marisa: Come again!
May: Those ugly rumors about Sakura yesterday, they were all started by you. Gee, next you’re going to start some ugly rumors about me or Misty. (May leaves)
Marisa: I cannot believe this crap!
Tracey: This is getting creepy. Are you sure you didn’t say anything?
Marisa: I didn’t! I would never do that to any of my friends. I wouldn’t even do it to my enemies. (Marcus walks up)
Marcus: Why are you sabotaging Sakura’s good name?
Marisa: What is this a witch hunt? I didn’t say anything! Why doesn’t anybody believe that I am telling the truth?
Marcus: Number one, you have one of the BIGGEST mouth in school. And two, Whitney came to me yesterday and told me that you were the one spreading the rumor.
Marisa: But I didn’t even talk to Whitney yesterday morning. But that must mean she lied about it to trash my reputation. (Nearby)
Jessie: JAMES!
James: Eek! What’s with screaming my name?
Jessie: You sniveling, little, worm! You were sleeping with some whore named Sakura? I had to hear it from that bitch, Erika of all people!
James: I DID WHAT?!
Jessie: Don’t lie to me James. It’s all over school that you’re doing Sakura on top of a photocopier. But don’t worry, there won’t be much love going around once I finish you and her off. (Cracks her knuckles) Scumbag!
James: You’ve got it all wrong! Sakura was just over at my apartment the other night to help me with an English paper. Weirdest thing, we both went to sleep WITH OUR CLOTHES ON during the session. See, it’s all just a silly situation.
Butch: Is that what happened? Oh boy!
James: What do you mean? Is there something you want to tell me?
Butch: Well I… (Jessie grabs him by the scruff of his collar)
Jessie: SPILL IT BITCH!
Butch: Hey don’t call me that, my name is Butch and you know it!
Marisa: You have to believe me you guys. I would never say something like that.
Misty: Come on Marisa. Even Whitney said that you told her that they were having sex in the library. You know damn well that it isn’t true!
Marisa: Whitney lied. She probably said it to trash my reputation!
Sakura: Don’t talk to me about trashed reputations. Because of your big mouth, I have to live the rest of my high school days with people referring to me as a slut now.
Marisa: Fine. If you want to believe lies and bull crap, go right ahead. (She walks away)
Sakura: Well, the next order of business is to try and transfer to a new school and have my name changed so that Jessie won’t find me.
Misty: Well, I’m going to class now. See you later. (She walks away)
Sakura: Bye.
James: Hey Sakura.
Sakura: Eek! What the hell?
Jessie: So, you’re Sakura!
Sakura: Hi!
Jessie: You may not know me, but I’m Jessie, James’s girlfriend.
Sakura: Do I at least get a final wish before getting killed?
James: Sakura, I brought Jessie and Buffy here to set things straight. Now go on Bill, tell her the story.
Butch: I TOLD YOU BEFORE, THE NAME IS BUTCH! For the love of God, you’re my own roommate! Okay, the other night I saw pigtails over there leaving the apartment. I honestly thought that you guys were doing the nasty since it was four in the morning. Sorry for spreading the rumor, it seemed too good of a story to keep locked up to myself.
Sakura: So that means…You told Whitney and everybody else? Uh-oh!
James: Now what do you say?
Butch: I’m sorry!
Sakura: So that’s it, I’m off the hook? I’m not going to get beat up?
Jessie: Nope. Just remember to keep your hands off of my man! (She grabs James’s butt) You see this? It is property of Jessie! You got that? (Jessie, James, and Butch leave)
Sakura: I’m in the clear! I’m not going to die! (At lunch)
May: Sakura, there you are!
Sakura: Hi everybody!
May: Oh Sakura, I’m so sorry Marisa spread that nasty rumor about you.
Sakura: Okay everybody, I have to set the record straight. Marisa DID NOT spread any rumor. It turns out that James’s roommate Butch told everybody that James and I were knocking boots. Butch told everyone, including Whitney and several other people the rumor.
Misty: That’s what happened?
May: Oh man, I feel bad now.
Tracey: Well you should feel bad. Marisa told you from the start that she had nothing to do with the rumors and none of you believed her. You believed Whitney, whom you all barely know over your own best friend.
Marcus: You’re right. Where is little buddy?
Tracey: She didn’t feel good, so she left early. (In the hallway)
Butch: Well at least the black eye from Jessie is the end of my troubles. (Butch is grabbed by the throat) WHAT THE HELL IS THIS?!
Marisa: End of your troubles? Your troubles are just beginning!
Butch: Hey, you’re the office nark!
Marisa: Bad move! I don’t particularly like it when somebody calls me a nark. AND I HATE IT WHEN I GET BLAMED FOR SOMETHING THAT I DIDN’T DO!!! It’s because of you and your story that all of my friends turned against me and didn’t trust my word.
Butch: Please don’t hurt me!
Marisa: Hmm. I won’t hurt you. Just as long as you do something for me!
Butch: And what do you want me to do? (She whispers in his ear) You can’t be serious!
Marisa: I’m very serious! (The next morning)
Sakura: Marisa, there you are.
Marisa: Oh, hello!
Sakura: I… (Misty clears her throat) I mean WE would like to apologize to you for what happened.
Misty: Yeah, I should have known that you wouldn’t trash a friend’s reputation.
Marcus: Same here little buddy?
Marisa: I accept the apology.
Marcus: You mean we’re forgiven? (Marisa punches his arm)
Marisa: YOU’RE NOT! I know you all my life and you let some stupid rumor take control. (She punches him) YOU IDIOT! (Happily) But the rest of you are forgiven. I just hope you’re feeling okay Sakura.
Sakura: Surprisingly I’m okay. I’m just going to take a break from boys for a while and concentrate on my school work.
Marisa: Understandable. (Kelis’s Milkshake plays) Oh, look at that. (Butch dances in a dress)
Butch:
My milkshake brings all the boys to the yard,
And they're like
It's better than yours,
Damn right it's better than yours,
I can teach you,
But I have to charge
Ash: HOLY CRAP!
Misty: Whoa!
Brock: I think I’m going to be sick!
Todd: I think my camera just broke.
Marcus: I’ll use mine. (Camera flashes) Oh, this is going in my blackmail collection!
Harley: MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED! (Tucker groans)
Sakura: Did you have anything to do with this Marisa?
Marisa: Now why do you assume that I had something to do with this? (Butch kisses Whitney on the lips and she screams)
Sakura: I’m going to stop asking questions now!
Marisa: Smart choice.
Tracey: So, what was the point of this?
Marisa: I forced Butch to do this and in return I’m not allowed to beat him into a coma for what happened.
Tracey: What if he tells Principal Oak that you told him to do this?
Marisa: Oh, I don't think I have to worry about that. (Cracks her knuckles) Plus, the way I see it, most teenagers will forget about one big incident with another big incident. I figured that this is the way for the whole school to forget about the Sakura incident or me spreading the so-called rumor.
Tracey: And what about Butch kissing Whitney?
Marisa: I heard from somewhere that she thought Butch was gross, so I played that to my advantage. (Whitney walks by)
Whitney: I hate you!
Marisa: Back at you! And next time, think twice before you mess with me! That’s a lesson in DON’T FUCK WITH MARISA 101!
