~New Characters Introduced~
Mr. Juan, Cheryl, and Rudy
Original Date of Post: 03/16/2008
Narrator: When in school, there are just some occasions where you can totally ditch your class. There’s senior ditch day, school activities that cause you to miss class, and my favorite, field trips! Field trips can be a lot of fun, as long as you don’t have to do an assignment during it or afterwards.
Rowan: Just a reminder class, don’t forget to hand in your permission slips in so you may see the on-stage production of The Crucible tomorrow. (In another classroom)
Miss Prima: When we go, I expect you all to be on your best behavior and not make rude obscene noises like you all would most likely do in a movie theatre. (In another classroom)
Mr. Juan: After we see the play, we’ll spend the rest of the day at the park. Let’s just say it’s your reward for a job well done this year. (During lunch)
Sakura: This should be a fun field trip.
Brock: Yeah and all we have to do is sit through a three hour play and we get the rest of the afternoon off to just relax.
Marisa: You just want to get to the park so that you can flirt with the girls in our class. And so they can turn you down for the umpteenth time! (Brock groans)
Misty: Well I’m looking forward to seeing the play. (Ash walks up)
Ash: Hi guys! What’s going on?
Sakura: We’re talking about our upcoming field trip.
Ash: What field trip?
Misty: Oh right, you’re not in either Miss Prima’s, Mr. Juan's, or Professor Rowan’s English classes so you don’t get to go. All we’re doing is going to see a play tomorrow morning at Pallet University.
Ash: Oh, okay. So you’ll be back for lunch right?
Marisa: Actually Ash, we’re going to be gone the whole day.
Ash: What the? Where are you all going that is taking up the whole day?
Misty: Well, our teachers have decided to give us a little break. So after the play, we’re just going to a park and relax. Since it’s close to the end of the school year, they wanted to give us this field trip to take the edge off before it’s time to take finals again.
Sakura: FINALS?!
Misty: Relax Sakura, it isn’t finals time yet!
Marisa: Come on. You have all next month to spaz out! Besides Ash, it’s only the Honors and Enriched English classes that are going to this. Not a big deal.
Ash: So you’ll be gone the whole day?
Misty: Ash, it’s not like we’re going to be gone for a week, it’s only for one day. You know, you could be in one of the Enriched or Honors classes if you put your mind to it.
Ash: Is that a shot at calling me stupid?
Misty: I’m not calling you stupid! Did the word "stupid" ever come out of my mouth?
Brock: You said it just now.
Both: STAY OUT OF IT!
Misty: All I’m saying is that if you put your mind to it, you could get better grades and be in the same kind of classes we’re in.
Ash: Oh, this is just great!
Marisa: Not everyone is going Ash. Well I know that Drew is going, and Richie, Sakura, Misty, Tracey, Brock, Harley, oh and myself…
Ash: (Sarcastic) This just keeps getting better!
Marisa: Hey, I only said a handful of people. (Marcus walks up)
Ash: While you guys get to have fun on the field trip, I’m stuck here with the rest of the idiots!
Marcus: I resent that!
Ash: Pardon me!
Marisa: Marcus isn’t going on the field trip.
Marcus: That’s right. So don’t go insulting me Ash.
Ash: Get off my back!
Marcus: Gee, who pissed in your cereal this morning?
Brock: Seriously Ash! All students go on field trips every now and then and you shouldn’t feel left out or jealous if some of your friends go somewhere.
Misty: Please Ash, don’t be like this. (He gets up)
Ash: Leave me alone! (He leaves the cafeteria)
Sakura: That was pretty intense.
Misty: He probably feels like he’s stupider than the rest of us because we’re all in the upper classes and we’re going on this field trip.
Sakura: Well, don’t sit on your butt talking about it! Confront him and persuade him that he is not stupid.
Misty: I’m going to give him some space right now.
Marisa: Good idea. It’s best not to piss him off even more.
Marcus: So little buddy, are you excited for the field trip.
Marisa: Of course.
Marcus: Really. I’m thinking that you’re excited because Tracey is on the field trip as well and that you are going to make out with him on the bus and in the audience and at the park during lunch. (Marisa blushes)
Marisa: Absolutely not! I’m looking forward to seeing this play.
Marcus: Correct me if I’m wrong but didn’t you say that The Crucible was a crappy book and a piece of garbage movie?
Marisa: Well now I’ll get to criticize the play! I didn’t even think about Tracey and I being together the entire day. (Tracey walks up)
Tracey: Hi guys! You ready for the field trip tomorrow? (All agreeing)
Marisa: You bet! I can’t wait to make out…I mean see how the play makes out. (Outside)
Ash: I can’t believe those guys!
Richie: Are you okay Ash? You seem a little ticked off. Not to mention very distracted from the game.
Ash: I’m fine! Why are you accusing me of something that is far from the truth?
Richie: No reason! It’s just that you threw the ball at Morrison’s head more than you usually do.
Morrison: Oh man, that hurt!
Richie: And you keep cussing underneath your breath! You know it’s not good to bottle up your emotions like that. That’s how ulcers get started!
Morrison: Hey, that’s how the Detroit game brawl got started! Matter of fact, that’s how the L.A. Riots got started too.
Richie: So come on Ash, tell us what is wrong.
Ash: Do you guys promise to be truthful with me?
Richie: You have my word.
Morrison: Sure thing!
Ash: Do you think I’m dumb?
Richie: Huh? (Hesitant) Of course you’re not dumb! Why would you think that?
Morrison: BECAUSE HE IS DUMB!
Richie: Morrison!
Morrison: It’s true! He’s dumber than the people shown on basic cable! (Ash sighs) Dumber than Congress even!
Richie: Morrison, get out of here!
Morrison: Fine. I know when I’m not wanted. (He leaves)
Ash: I knew it.
Richie: You’re not dumb! Don’t listen to Morrison, he’s a…jackass! But seriously Ash, why are you taking a sudden interest in knowing if you are dumb?
Ash: It’s Misty. Actually, it’s all of my friends.
Richie: They called you dumb?
Ash: No, not at all. It’s because of that stupid field trip you’re all going on.
Richie: You mean the one to go see The Crucible? Ash, the reason why we’re all going on this trip is because all of us have read the book in class. (Ash sighs) Cheer up Ash. There are plenty of other people not going. There’s Marcus, May, that girl Kelly…Um…
Ash: Go on!
Richie: That’s all I got! (The next morning on a bus)
Brock: Would you go out with me?
Grace: Please get away from me! (Misty grabs his ear)
Misty: Would you sit down before you get kicked off the bus! Do you have to ask the same girls over and over?
Brock: They might change their answer!
Marisa: The day that happens I’ll go down a cup size!
Sakura: Hey Misty, did you get a chance to talk to Ash last night?
Misty: Yeah, but I wish I didn’t talk to him. He was in such a rotten mood last night. I just couldn’t bear talking to him. And then we ended up in a fight.
Sakura: A fight? Oh Misty…
Brock: He acts like we’re going on a two-week trip to Europe when we’re just going to be gone for one school day.
Misty: I guess he’ll calm down eventually. (Looks over) Looks like you two are getting cozy.
Marisa: Tracey just fell asleep on my shoulder.
Sakura: If it were Marcus, you would have punched him.
Marisa: That is true. But I don’t mind it with Tracey.
Misty: I really haven’t seen this side of you before. Ever since you’ve been going out with Tracey, there’s been a real change.
Marisa: I guess people change when they're in love. (Tracey wakes up) You’re up, Sleeping Beauty! (She giggles)
Tracey: I must have dozed off. Sorry about that. I didn’t get that much sleep last night.
Marisa: That’s okay Tracey. (A little later at the theatre)
Miss Prima: Alright, we are here!
Brock: Pallet University! I’m going here when I graduate!
Misty: When did you decide this?
Brock: When I was younger I was on a field trip. And that’s when I saw all of the hot babes coming out of the classrooms!
Misty: You are a sad sack!
Miss Prima: Alright class, I want you all to stand in a single file line. (Brock screams) Now what’s wrong? (Brock runs to a girl)
Brock: Excuse me Miss, are your feet hurting? Because you’ve been running through my mind all morning!
Miss Prima: BROCK! Stop bothering this young lady with all of that nonsense.
Cheryl: It’s no problem ma’am. Wait a second! Are you all from Pallet High School?
Miss Prima: Yes we are!
Cheryl: That’s perfect! I’m here to greet you all to the theatre. My name is Cheryl and I’m an usher for the performance of The Crucible.
Brock: Don’t you worry Miss Cheryl, as long as I’m here, no one will interrupt this fine production.
Miss Prima: Take your place in the line before I write you up!
Cheryl: (Giggles) Just go over to the ticket counter and they will hand you the tickets.
Miss Prima: Thank you Cheryl. Come along class.
Cheryl: Huh? (Walks over to Tracey) I thought that was you Tracey! How are you! (She hugs him)
Tracey: Cheryl! It’s great to see you! Hold my place in line, I’ll be back! (They leave)
Sakura: Now what do you suppose that was about?
Marisa: I don’t know!
Misty: Some girl is walking off with your man and you’re just standing by doing nothing.
Sakura: She’s right! That Cheryl girl could be an old girlfriend.
Misty: That’s a good point! He might still have feelings for her and leave you. (Marisa walks ahead) Huh?
Marisa: Come on. Let’s just get our seats and watch the play.
Sakura: What the hell?
Misty: She didn’t even use a single cuss word! (Inside the theatre)
Sakura: Gee, Tracey isn’t even back yet! (Thinking) Damn, Marisa doesn’t even say one word. Hmm, I don’t think it’s wise to have her sit next to Tracey. Knowing her, she might make a big scene and beat Tracey up in the middle of the performance. (Aloud) Brock, sit here next to Marisa please.
Brock: What the? Why the hell should I do that?
Sakura: Because uh, Professor Rowan put me in charge of the seating arrangements.
Brock: Yeah he would, you teachers pet! (Misty gets up) Now where are you going?
Misty: To the bathroom. I’ll be right back. (She leaves)
Brock: Hey there’s Tracey! Here, he can sit here! (Marisa grabs Brock and sits him down) What the hell?
Tracey: Hi guys!
Sakura: Sorry Tracey, no room up here! There’s a couple of seats down front!
Tracey: Um, okay! I’ll see you after the play Marisa. (Silence) Huh. Marisa, are you okay?
Miss Prima: Mr. Sketchit! Take your seat now!
Sakura: Better do as she says! (He leaves)
Brock: Why didn’t you want Tracey sitting next to you? (She growls) Oh, you guys are fighting. (A few minutes later outside the bathroom)
Misty: That’s better! (Looks at her watch) Oh crap! I better get to my seat before the show starts! (Runs into another person) That hurt! Oh God, I’m sorry for running into you like that. I wasn’t paying attention!
Rudy: Not at all! I wasn’t looking where I was going. Are you alright?
Misty: Yeah, I’m fine. (He stares at her) Why do you keep staring at me?
Rudy: Your eyes. You have such lovely eyes! They’re like looking into the beautiful ocean. (Misty blushes)
Misty: What a very nice thing to say!
Rudy: May I ask you your name?
Misty: My name is Misty.
Rudy: Very beautiful name. My name is Rudy. (Lights start to flicker)
Misty: Oh no! The lights are dimming, which means the play is about to start! I’m sorry Rudy but I have to get going! Huh? He’s gone! (Cheryl runs up)
Cheryl: There you are! Your teacher was looking all over for you. Come on, I’ll show you back to your seat. (During the play in the audience)
Sakura: (Thinking) Okay! Marisa didn’t kill him yet. But now I have to worry about after the play. But who knows? Maybe she won’t kill him in front of a large crowd.
Brock: (Thinking) Great! I could have been sitting next to a cute girl and then I could wrap my arm around her during the stoning scenes. Instead, I’m sitting next to Medusa herself! Why do I have to sit next to her while she’s having one of her P.M.S. moments?
Marisa: (Thinking) I’ll just ignore him for now and let him explain when he’s ready. After he does that, I shall punish him. (Rudy comes on stage)
Misty: (Gasps) It’s him.
Marisa: Huh?
Misty: (Thinking) That boy! He’s in the play! (She blushes)
Marisa: Misty? (A little later back at the school)
Marcus: For the last time, you are not dumb! You just have dumb moments, which we all have every once and a while. Though you seem to have more dumb moments than the average person!
Ash: Great, I am dumb!
Marcus: Is it because of the field trip Ash? Because if so, do you see me here? Yes you do! I’m not in the upper classes and there’s no reason for you to be jealous. (Ash sighs) Well, I tried.
Ash: On another subject, do you think Misty might break up with me?
Marcus: You guys just started going out. Why would she break up with you?
Ash: There could be several reasons. But mostly it’s because Misty and I got into a fight last night.
Marcus: Don’t tell me that.
Ash: Because I yelled at her yesterday, I’m afraid that she might break up with me. I’m also afraid that she might leave me for someone smarter than me.
Marcus: Was the fight that bad?
Ash: Not one of our best moments.
Marcus: I think you’re blowing things way out of proportion. Plus, Misty loves you. If she wanted someone with brains she would have dated someone like Drew.
Ash: I guess you do have a point.
Marcus: I’m sure she won’t break up with you over some fight on the phone. If not, then I guess I have a shot with her. (Ash growls) Sorry, that was a bad joke. Well, not really a bad joke. Just a bad time for jokes!
Ash: Just leave me alone Marcus. (Later that day back at Pallet University)
Mr. Juan: What did you guys think?
Miss Prima: I liked it. How about you?
Rowan: Not bad.
Mr. Juan: I suppose you’ve seen better at your Ivy League school?
Rowan: What’s that supposed to mean?
Miss Prima: We’re on a field trip and you two are supposed to set the example! Wait until after school to get into verbal fights. (Sakura walks up)
Rowan: What’d you think of the play Miss Sakura?
Sakura: I think it was pretty good. I’ve thought up an idea for an assignment. I think we should write up a paper discussing the similarities between the book and the play.
Rowan: I’ll take that into consideration. Thank you Sakura!
Miss Prima: That sounds like a great idea for an assignment. I was going to make my class take a test, but this sounds much better.
Mr. Juan: I like the idea too. (Nearby)
Brock: She is such a teacher’s pet!
Misty: Now come on Brock! There’s no need for pointless name calling! Although thanks to her, we have to write a damn paper. Well for the most part that was an interesting play. What did you guys think of the play?
Brock: Better than the book!
Drew: Agreed.
Marisa: It was fine.
Brock: Are you still arguing with Tracey? God, you can never be satisfied with anyone.
Misty: Brock, shut up! (Marisa walks away) Marisa? Oh dear. (Sakura walks up)
Sakura: There’s the little home-wrecker now!
Brock: What the? (Groans) My heart is shattered! This can’t be right! How could a beautiful girl like Cheryl fall in love with Tracey? Wait a minute! Tracey just made the greatest decision ever. He ditched the bitch and got the hot!
Misty: Now how could you say that?
Brock: Simple, I just said it!
Misty: You are such a jerk! (She gets a tap on the shoulder) Huh? (Gasp)
Rudy: Hello Misty. I was hoping I would see you after the show.
Misty: Hello…Rudy!
Rudy: Misty, of all the women I’ve seen at this school, you are by far the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen. (Misty blushes)
Drew: Who is this guy?
Brock: I don’t know but he’s making my skin crawl. He sounds like the both of us when we’re trying to pick up girls. (Drew glares at him) What! Oh, I’m sorry! Did I remind you of your past before you met May? Well that’s how you were Drew!
Drew: I may have had my fair share of girlfriends before May, but you're on a completely different level of perversion.
Brock: At least half of my ex-girlfriends don’t go to this school!
Drew: That’s not true, I…
Girl: Drew, is that you?
Drew: Get me the hell out of here!
Rudy: Tell me about yourself.
Misty: Oh, what’s there to tell? Well, I’m a cheerleader, a junior in high school…
Rudy: High school? I would have thought that you were a college student. I don’t usually date younger girls, but in your case, I’m willing to bend the rules.
Misty: Huh?
Rudy: Here Misty, this is my cell phone number. You can just call me sometime! (Rudy leaves)
Misty: What just happened? (Sakura runs up)
Sakura: Oh my God Misty! What did you do?
Erika: Holy crap Waterflower! You are really capturing the hearts of men all around. I’m almost jealous! I must say, he’s a real keeper! If I were you, I would take him up on his offer and go out with him. You only get one chance to meet a hot boy who can act as good as Denzel Washington.
Misty: But what…about Ash?
Miss Prima: Okay class, we’re getting on the bus again! (Nearby)
Tracey: We’re going to be hanging around a park for the rest of the day. If you want to join us, you’re more than welcome to come.
Cheryl: Well, I’ve got some work to do around the stage. But if I can fit it in, I’ll come and join you.
Tracey: It was great seeing you again Cheryl! (He hugs her)
Marisa: (Thinking) Tracey! (Marisa walks on the bus)
Sakura: Marisa, are you feeling alright? (Looks out the window) Oh my! Come on sweetie, we’ll sit together. Everything is going to be okay! You don’t need him! (Tracey gets on the bus)
Tracey: Hey you guys! Huh? Marisa, are you feeling okay? (Silence)
Sakura: She’s kind of feeling crampy right now, so please go away! (Tracey walks away)
Marisa: (Thinking) I can’t believe he did that right in front of my eyes. (A little later at the park)
Miss Prima: Okay students, we’ll meet back at the bus again at 2:00pm. Enjoy the rest of your day! (All cheering)
Misty: What a dilemma!
Erika: So what are you going to do about your cute admirer? Are you going to call him and go out with him?
Grace: Erika, don’t jump the gun! What about Ash?
Erika: What about him?
Grace: He’s Misty’s boyfriend!
Erika: Well if I were in her shoes, I would dump Ash and go with the hot guy on stage! I would do that in a heartbeat. Did you take a look at his ass?
Grace: I was not trying to look at that boy’s butt! (Marisa walks by)
Erika: Hey nark, what do you think about Misty’s admirer? (Marisa walks away) Hey, don’t just ignore me! (A little later)
Tracey: Hey Brock, have you seen Marisa anywhere?
Brock: No and I don’t think she wants to see you right now.
Drew: You’ll just piss her off.
Tracey: Did I do something to upset her?
Brock: It’s probably because she found out that you are a two-timer.
Tracey: Excuse me!
Drew: Let me clue you in! Current girlfriends don’t usually like to see their boyfriends hugging and kissing on some other girl that isn’t their mother.
Tracey: Are you guys talking about Cheryl?
Brock: What’s up man? Are you that dense?
Tracey: You guys have got it all wrong! Cheryl isn’t any ordinary girl, she’s…
Sakura: I DON’T WANT TO HEAR IT!
All: Huh?
Sakura: Drew, Brock, don’t get corrupted by this jerk! I’m ashamed of you Tracey Sketchit! (They walk away)
Tracey: This can’t be good! (Looks around) Now where could she be? (Later)
Sakura: For the love of Christ, just talk to him and get it over with. (Marisa sighs)
Marisa: I just don’t feel like talking to him.
Sakura: I know this is tearing you up inside. I’ll tell you this right now; you can’t ignore him for the rest of your life. (Misty walks by) And just where the hell have you been?
Misty: I’ve been…around.
Sakura: I’ll tell you one thing, you better not think about leaving Ash for that hot-shot lover boy! (Misty sighs) I’m the one who doesn’t have a boyfriend and yet I’m the one giving love advice to you two! (Sakura walks away)
Marisa: I’m just at a loss of words with this sort of subject. I love Tracey, but if he’s going to call it off to be with that Cheryl girl, I will break his legs.
Misty: Oh crap! (Rudy and Cheryl come out of a car together) Rudy’s here, well that’s just great!
Erika: Misty, your admirer has returned and it looks like he has a bouquet of roses. Now that’s a real man for you! (Misty sighs)
Rudy: There you are Misty!
Misty: Um Rudy…
Rudy: Here. These are for you! (He gives her flowers) These babies cost a pretty penny, but you are definitely worth it.
Misty: I don’t like you Rudy.
Rudy: Huh? You don’t…like me?
Misty: Don’t get me wrong Rudy! If this were a year ago, I would be all over you. The thing is I already have a boyfriend and I care about him very much.
Rudy: This boyfriend of yours, he must be one lucky guy to have a girl as pretty as you.
Misty: Sometimes, I feel like I’m the lucky one with him.
Rudy: Oh. I came on too strong didn’t I?
Misty: Yeah, you did. I’m sorry, it’s just that you came off as some sort of stalker.
Rudy: No, I understand.
Misty: Hey, don’t get too down on yourself. I know there’s another girl out there who will give you a chance Rudy. You have so much going for you. Just take your time and don’t jump the gun.
Rudy: Well, I can’t say that I’m not disappointed. However, I respect your decision. It was very nice meeting you. (They shake hands and he walks off)
Misty: Bye Rudy. (Erika walks up)
Erika: Now why did you do that?
Misty: I just went with my heart.
Erika: You picked Ash over Rudy! You have brain damage! (Nearby)
Cheryl: Hi Tracey! Hey, you have a worried look on your face. Is something the matter?
Tracey: Let’s just say I have a big problem! People are thinking that there is something between me and you.
Cheryl: Well, did you tell them?
Tracey: Not yet! (Sakura walks up)
Sakura: YOU HOME-WRECKER!
Tracey: Sakura!
Sakura: Don’t “Sakura” me! I know that you are hurting my best friend. I trusted you and you broke her heart with this little tramp! (Marisa walks up)
Marisa: Sakura, what are you doing? (She jumps)
Sakura: Oh Marisa, don’t worry yourself with scum like him.
Marisa: I think I can handle this on my own. (She walks up to Tracey) So, aren’t you going to introduce me to your friend?
Tracey: Marisa, this is Cheryl, my cousin!
Marisa: Cheryl…is your…cousin?
Tracey: Yeah, she’s my older cousin. Cheryl, this is my girlfriend Marisa.
Cheryl: Oh, so you’re Marisa. It’s nice to finally meet you. Tracey keeps telling me over the phone about you.
Marisa: Boy do I feel like a giant jackass!
Cheryl: What did you have to worry about? You actually thought that I was an old girlfriend? (Laughs)
Tracey: No, the only other girlfriend I’ve had was Daisy.
Cheryl: Goodness! You have nothing to worry about. For the last few months, he has spoken nothing but good things about you. Every time I speak to him on the phone, he’s always going on and on about you. Why would you even think that he was having an affair?
Marisa: Don’t ask!
Tracey: Marisa, you know that there is no other girl that I want to be with. You should know that by now! (Marisa hugs him) I’m glad that you’re not mad at me anymore. But, is Sakura going to kill me?
Marisa: Oh, don’t pay her any mind! (Cheryl walks to her car)
Cheryl: Struck out with Misty?
Rudy: How could you tell?
Cheryl: Well to start, you’re just standing there with a sad look on your face and you’re holding the bouquet of roses you bought.
Rudy: Sometimes I wonder if there’s a girl out there who likes me. (Sighs) Oh well, tomorrow is another day after all. I’ll just stay positive and believe that there is a girl out there for me. If only I could find one as pretty as Misty.
Cheryl: If you say so. Next time, just get to know the girl and don’t go jumping the gun.
Rudy: Right. Say, what were you doing with that boy? Is he your boyfriend?
Cheryl: Hardly. That’s my younger cousin Tracey.
Rudy: Oh…Say, you’re not dating your cousin are you?
Cheryl: Shut up Casanova! (After school in the courtyard)
Misty: I’ll see you guys later! (She starts walking)
Ash: Misty. (She turns around)
Misty: Hi Ash.
Ash: How was your field trip?
Misty: Okay, I guess.
Ash: Here Misty. These are for you.
Misty: Flowers? Where did you get these?
Ash: I have my connections. (In the Principal’s office)
Oak: Miss Agatha, I’ll be leaving now. What the? My flowers are gone! And half of this box of chocolates has been eaten! Damn it! I can’t go see Delia empty handed! (Back outside)
Ash: Listen Misty, I want to apologize for yesterday. I know you weren’t calling me stupid. I just overreacted, that’s all. I didn’t mean the things I said and I just hope that you could forgive me for being so…dumb.
Misty: You’re not dumb!
Ash: But in this case, yes I am. I love you Misty.
Misty: Oh Ash! (She hugs him)
Ash: I’m glad you’re not mad at me! (Misty pulls out Rudy’s piece of paper and rips it up)
Misty: I love you Ash.
