Quadragesimus Septimus: June 29, 2008: Madeo
No theme, because it's the weekend.
madeo, madere, madui, -
Definition: to be wet, be drenched; to be boiled soft; (comedy) to be drunk; (fig) to be steeped in
Sententia: Puella in imbre maduit, sed ea saltans et saliens in lacunuas parvas aquam nec animadvertit nec curavit.
The girl was drenched in the rain, but she dancing and jumping into puddles (literally little pools) neither noticed nor cared about the water.
This word is actually in the Aeneid, albeit only once (the "greasy Asian" section). But the word also links rather nicely to yesterday's word, for in order to dive you must get wet (well, of course).
