Theme for this week: Fighting verbs
domo, domare, domui, domitum
Definition:
Sententia: Etiamsi Roma Carthaginem in secundo Punico bello domuit, post victoriam mandans Punicas habere nec exercitum nec classem posse, adhuc Cato Maior et alii dixerunt Carthaginem ipsam esse delendam: igitur, in tertio Punico bello, Romani obsederunt et tum Carthaginem ad terram incenderunt.
Even though Rome subdued Carthage in the second Punic war, commanding after victory that the Carthaginians were able to have neither an army nor a fleet, still Cato the Elder and others said that Carthage itself must be destroyed: thus, in the third Punic war, Romans besieged and then burned Carthage to the ground.
