Definition: to dash to the ground; to destroy, overthrow; to bring almost to an end; to degrade, to rout
Sentence: Cum Caesari minus militum esset, tamen Pomeium Pharsali profligavit.
Although there were less soldiers to Caesar (i.e. Caesar had less soldiers), nevertheless he dashed Pompey to the ground at Pharsalus.
