Undevicesimus: July 10, 2007: Nitor
nitor, niti, nisus/nixus sum
Definition: press/lean upon; struggle; advance; depend on (with abl.); strive, labor, exert oneself; rest on; stand firfly; to press forward, climb
Sentence: Imago Anchises pectorem Aeneae nisus est et ait, "I ad Italiam! Nolite terere temporem cum Dido! Fac filium regem!"
The ghost Anchises leaned upon the soul/chest of Aeneas and said, "Go to Italy! Don't waste time with Dido! Make your son a king!"
(This sentence probably isn't really accurate according to the Aeneid....But I'm pretty sure that the Aeneid did say that Anchises spoke to Aeneas, though it was actually Mercury who told Aeneas in the cave that he couldn't be with Dido any longer...I don't claim to be good at mythology)
NB: Bold and underline == macron
