Rico Quirindongo
AIA Seattle President 2014
Rico Quirindongo, in 1994 the first recipient of the AIA Seattle Diversity Scholarship supporting his UW Architecture studies, served as AIA Seattle President in 2014.
Born and raised in Seattle, Rico earned a BA in Architecture and African-American Studies from Washington University in St. Louis before receiving his MArch from the UW in 1999. His work with Donald King Architects/DKA 2002-2013 and with DLR Group 2013-20 focused on community design and social sustainability. Notable projects include his work as project manager and architect for the Northwest African American Museum.
Rico has had an active role with NOMA NW and the AIA Seattle Diversity Roundtable.
He served on the Board of Historic Seattle 2009-2015. His service on the Board of the Pike Place Market Preservation and Development Authority began in 2013, with a focus on connecting the Market with the Seattle waterfront. In 2017, he accepted mayoral appointment to serve on the Key Arena Advisory Panel.
In 2014 AIA Seattle presented him with its Young Architect Award.
