Gerald A. Williams FAIA

Gerald A. Williams FAIA (1933-1992) graduated from Roosevelt High School in Seattle and the Rudolf Schaefer School of Design in San Francisco before receiving his BArch 1956 magna cum laude from the University of Washington and an MFA from University of Pennsylvania.  A talented clarinetist, he played briefly for the Seattle Symphony before pursuing architecture full time.

Known to colleagues and friends as Jerry, he had a 37-year career with the Seattle firm of TRA.  Among his Seattle projects:  bus tunnel stops at Westlake Center, Pioneer Square, and the International District; SeaTac terminal complex, One Union Square, Unity Church of Truth, Seattle ferry terminal, Washington Federal Savings and Loan; the Skyline Tower, Bellevue; Farmers New World Life Insurance Co., Mercer Island; Sheraton Tacoma Hotel; McCarran International Airport, Las Vegas; and Baghdad International Airport.

He served as President of AIA Seattle in 1972 and of AIA Washington Council.  His civic activities included membership on the boards of the Henry Art Gallery, the Downtown Seattle Association, the Westlake Project, and also Seattle Housing Resources Group non-profit provider of low-income housing.
