AIA SeattleThe efforts of Tomio Moriguchi to preserve the identity of Seattle's Japantown / Chinatown / International District have drawn many to understand and appreciate the history and culture of the city. As Executive of Uwajimaya and in other leadership including his 1988 activation of the Japantown-based The North American Post, he has contributed to the preservation and appreciation of a special community heritage. He has worked with developers & architects to carry the community forward in ongoing projects.In recognition of his ongoing accomplishes, AIA Seattle recognized him as an AIA Seattle Honorary Member in 2004.In 2015, Puget Sound Business Journal ranked Tomio Moriguchi among Seattle's 35 most influential business leaders.In 2020, Moriguchi received the Seattle-King County First Citizen Award.
