Alan Sclater FAIA

Alan Sclater FAIA, who earned his architecture degree at USC, has taken an active role in practice issues throughout his professional life, including his service to the AIA National Documents Committee beginning in 1988.  He served as coordinator of the team that drafted the 1997 version of B141, the profession's most widely used Standard Form Owner-Architect Agreement.  He has also held office as AIA Seattle President 1991-92 and AIA Washington Council President.

As a practicing architect, as a principal with Kober-Sclater Architects and later with Sclater Partners in Seattle, Alan has served developer and corporate clients on retail, office, hotel and mixed-use projects of all sizes, as well as private schools and other institutional projects.  The portfolio includes several notable projects in Bellevue, including the Lincoln Square mixed-use project, the Bellevue Place Expansion, Bellevue Arts Museum, and Bellevue Square.  He serves occasionally as an expert witness on cases involving design and construction issues.

His contributions to the architectural profession and the practice of architecture, on the AIA National Codes and Standards Committee and the AIA National Documents Committee prompted his elevation to the College of Fellows in 1998.
