William Kreager FAIA

William H. Kreager FAIA (BArch UW 1967) currently (2004) practices as a Principal with Mithun Architects + Designers + Planners, Seattle.

Based on a lengthy, successful and thoughtful record of design achievement in housing, Bill Kreager has provided active leadership in advancing the art and science of crafting livable communities.  As a leader of the AIA national Housing PIA as it grew in scope and effect in the years 1999-2003, he has helped to develop the knowledge base and also public awareness about the value of good housing design.  In practice and advocacy, he exemplifies the architect as community and societal leader in finding solutions to the major challenges of urban sprawl, infill development, and the higher densities mandated by the expanding Growth Management movement, in Washington and around the US.

In addition to and adding to the effectiveness with which he discharges his AIA responsibilities, Bill has responded generously to invitations to speak and lead in other organizations -- local, national, and international -- related to housing interests.  He has spoken at major local and national gatherings of not only the AIA but also the National Association of Home Builders, the Urban Land Institute, and HUD.

The AIA College of Fellows inducted Bill in 2003.  AIA Seattle 1990 Medallist Norman J. Johnston FAIA sponsored his nomination.
