Betty Wagner

AIA Seattle Honorary Member Betty Wagner, a Montana native, began her library career on June 11, 1951, a mere two days after she graduated with a bachelor's degree from what was then called the UW School of Librarianship.  As of 2001, she had served more than 50 years as Librarian for the UW College of Architecture and Urban Planning.

In her work she has watched and supported many people beginning and pursuing their paths into the design professions.  She notes the influx of female students into the field of architecture:  "Once a rarity, women now comprise about half of the architecture and urban planning student population."
