Mary Johnston FAIA

In an exemplary Seattle practice, in civic service, and in studio leadership at the University of Washington, Mary Johnston FAIA brings professional and public attention to the possibilities of innovative, humane projects to serve community ideals.  Mary Johnston earned the MArch degree from University of Washington.

In 1991 she and her husband Ray Johnston FAIA established Johnston Architects in Seattle.   Notable projects recognized by national as well as local design awards include numerous single- and multi-family residences located throughout the Northwest, public work including Maple Valley Library and South Park Library in Seattle, projects with the Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe and the Puyallup Tribe, and the innovative Casa Latina Day Care Center.

She served the City of Seattle as Chair of the Design Commission 2008-10; and on the board of the Methow Conservancy, the Pleiades Foundation and the Yellowstone Park Foundation.
