David Wright FAIA
David H. Wright FAIA (2/34-9/22) (UW BArch 1957) served as a principal with Bumgardner Architects, Seattle for more than 3 decades beginning in 1967, designing projects ranging from small buildings to multi-block urban complexes.
His extensive involvement in community organizations augmented his skills in working with large and diverse groups to build consensus. He engaged with Fred Bassetti FAIA & others in Action: Better City in 1968-69, and served as Chair of the Pike Place Market Historical Commission and also the Seattle Design Commission. He also co-founded and served as first Chair of the Pike Place Market Foundation, in 1982.
Among Dave's significant urban commercial development projects: 6 blocks of historic mixed-use buildings in Seattle's Central Waterfront district including the Alexis Hotel; the two-block Pike Place Market offices, Congregate Care Residence, and Market Place North; and Riverfront Place in Portland. He led the adaptive reuse of Queen Anne High School in Seattle.
