Bruce Walker FAIA

Born and raised in Spokane, Bruce Morris Walker (1923-2005) earned the BArch from UW in 1947.  He interrupted his studies to serve in the Navy during WWII.  He worked during school with architect Bliss Moore in Seattle, then returned to Spokane where he worked for a short time for architect E.J. Peterson and then for the firm of McClure & Adkison.  He continued his architectural education in Boston, and in 1951 graduated with a Master’s degree from the Harvard Graduate School of Design.  After traveling and studying in Europe, Walker returned to Spokane and opened his own practice in 1952.  In 1953, he formed a partnership with John W. McGough.  The firm designed college and institutional facilities throughout Washington.  They also designed many residences, commercial buildings, and public facilities.
