Ed Weinstein FAIA

Ed Weinstein FAIA (BArch UW 1971, MAUD Harvard Graduate School of Design 1975), has practiced in Seattle with the firms Canatsey Weinstein, Weinstein Copeland, and Weinstein A|U.   Through contributions as an educator, his leadership in the public architectural arena, and the creation of a highly respected and awarded body of work, Ed Weinstein has made exemplary contributions to the Northwest's architectural culture.

In Seattle-based practice, he has directed the creation of a much-decorated portfolio of public and private commissions, including numerous citings by AIA Seattle Honor Awards, a national AIA Honor Award for the Banner Building, and broad national recognition of the firm's work on Seattle's Holly Park community.

As an educator at UW CAUP and elsewhere, he also has gained respect as a critic and studio instructor, influencing two decades of students by demonstrating the appropriate combination of theory and practice in both architecture and urban design.  As a member (1987-90) and Chair (1990-92) of the Seattle Design Commission, he expanded the influence of this historically important body, resulting in the recognition of an active agency exerting positive influence on a broad array of significant public projects including the Seattle Center, Government Center, and the Central Waterfront.  is achievement in balancing these diverse but complementary roles gives testimony to substantial professional maturity.

His 1993 induction into the AIA College of Fellows recognized the significance of his achievements in design to the advancement of the profession.
