William Isley FAIA

William Isley FAIA (BArch UW 1966, Masters in City Planning University of Pennsylvania 1968) has applied his background and his talents in architecture and city planning to a career in urban design.
After developing master plans in Micronesia, Bill returned to Seattle and joined an emerging urban design firm in 1970.  From 1970 to 2012, as a principal in three Seattle firms including a productive term with Hewitt Isley, Isley concentrated on large-scale public and private urban design and transportation projects, including the Metro North Base Operations and Maintenance Facility, Kingston Ferry Terminal, and the Vision 2020 Growth Strategy and Transportation Plan for Puget Sound Council of Governments.
His 1996 elevation to the AIA College of Fellows recognized his "use of design as a tool to help people understand the far-reaching implications of land use issues," also noting that "his ability to listen and resolve sensitive issues through design, as opposed to legal enforcement, has strengthened the value of architecture."
