Robert Hull FAIA

AIA Seattle Medal of Honor 2010

A founding partner of The Miller Hull Partnership, along with David Miller FAIA, Robert Hull FAIA (1948-2014) became known as the creative force behind the majority of the firm’s public projects and community buildings.  An award-winning design architect, Robert’s experience on a wide range of project types goes beyond meeting the program requirements, generating a search for ideal solutions.

Robert received a bachelor of architecture degree in 1968 from Washington State University, twice receiving the Student Distinction Award.  From 1968 to 1972, Hull served in the US Peace Corps in Afghanistan, where he designed and built the headquarters for the National Tourism Agency and helped establish a school of architecture at Kabul University.

After returning to the United States, he worked in the New York office of Marcel Breuer from 1972 to 1975.  He relocated to Vancouver, Canada, in 1975 to join Rhone and Iredale Architects.   He became a partner and opened the RIA Seattle office with David Miller. In 1977 the partners became independent from RIA and renamed the firm the Miller Hull Partnership.

Alongside of Miller in 2006, Bob received the Washington State University Alumni Achievement Award, which recognizes and honors alumni who have given outstanding service and provide encouragement to alumni for perpetual service to Washington State University.

In 2003, AIA honored Miller Hull with the national Architecture Firm Award.

The 2010 AIA Seattle Medal of Honor presented to Bob and Dave acknowledges their extraordinary lifetime collaboration and the achievement embodied in their work.
